Sports TV viewers may see a lot more of Urban Meyer on TV this year than they thought they would. Fox Sports is close to finalizing a deal to hire the former Ohio State head coach as its star college football analyst, sources tell Sporting News.

Meyer, who won three national championships between Ohio State and Florida, is being given the choice to work either as a color commentator in the game booth or as a studio analyst at Fox, sources said. Citing serious health concerns, the 54-year-old Buckeyes coach retired after the 2019 Rose Bowl.

I agree, this is the same shite he did after he retired from Florida.

He'll coach again, no doubt. He can't stay away.

I think I said he would go this route, specifically Fox when he retired.

I expected him to wait a year or two though

He often did the 11 am Big 10 game on ESPN, which was great because that broadcast helped me get that extra 1-2 hours of sleep I needed to catch up on during the weekends.

He did the 2007 national title game at the desk. Every comment was a dry "yeah he reminds me of somebody I had at Florida that was better than him."

After Bama beat Notre Dames arse in the title game Chris Fowler asked him about his final thoughts on the game. Urban said it just goes to show how good of a player Johnny Manziel is

Still happening. I believe the contract isn’t to do games but some studio stuff.

This is working out exactly like his departure from Florida.

First, he moves to Los Angeles for the Fox Studio job. Isnt there a Los Angeles area major college football program with a coach on the hot seat?

So, let's get this straight:

He accepted the "assistant" AD Position at OSU (last I'd heard), which prolly allowed him to continue receiving his paycheck.

Now, he's going to do this gig which allows him to "work" 1-2 days a week and receive another huge check.

And bemoan in the background about how "hard" it is to be a CFB coach.

If you don't understand the difference in stress level between being the head coach at a program like Ohio State and being a part time studio analyst and assistant AD I don't know what to tell you.
