I'm not wholly convinced lewis still wins if they pitted under VSC. If he had gone to mediums, those are probably still trash by lap 58 and if he had fresher hards he'd be better off for sure, but max was still on fresh softs at the end. Not sure how much of a difference that would have made.

Yep. Everything that happened up until Masi allowed Max behind Hamilton with softs is irrelevant.

15 lap newer hards weren't going to matter much.

Yea I feel like the only situation that would have made a material difference at the very end was if Max was also on super old hards and was going to pit regardless of what lewis did which would have given Merc the greenlight to pit lewis just in case the race actually restarted.

Idk. I totally understand they wanted to finish under green, which I totally agree with. I just think it should have been an easy call to red flag and give the championship fighters a 3 lap sprint on fresh tires. That's my take.

Yep. Masi tried making the best of a situation and instead delivered this.

Not his first time pandering to good TV rather than the sport. It isn't bias for or against a team, it really seems like he is in over his head. Or Liberty is in his ear.

Kind of sucks because while it was wrong they can't overturn it.

I really think of Toto as the Saban of F1.

God damn I'm jacked to the tits for next year with the new regs.

JACKED TO THE TITS!!!!!!

ETA: One of my favorite aspects about F1 is the quick turnaround. Green flag drops in Bahrain in like 3 months.

For me, that analog would be Ross Brawn. He built Benneton into a championship team. Then he was the architect of Ferrari's return to glory then dominance, Next, he bought a backmarker team for pennies that only scored 14 points and the next year they beat all the big boys and won the WCC and the WDC with Jenson Button... who had over 300 starts with 15 wins and 6 of those came that year in the Brawn. Following that he laid the groundwork for the modern Mercedes team which handed over a 2nd place WCC team to Toto. Toto on the other hand bought into a top tier team with two WDC capable young drivers.

Just an FYI, he is rumored to be returning to Maranello with Todt. Seems unreal to me.

Not sure why anyone downvotes this post.

Bono asked Lewis which tires he wanted if they boxed under safety car. They had two opportunities to cover Max’s stops with a much faster car.

The team gambled on no safety car and that the hards would last to the end. That was foolish IMO and Lewis knew it too. “That’s a risk no?” is what he said.

Merc choked.

If 48.12 is fully applied or not applied Lewis wins this.

Not sure how Merc strategizes around partial application of the rules.

Saying this knowing that RBR would have stayed out and been protesting the exact same had Masi done this to them.

The way the cars go around to corners from that POV is mind blowing.

Ferrari being a front runner is good for F1. Hope the get the old gang back together and make some noise.

Just a reminder that even after today, the NFL has worse and more inconsistent officiating than F1.

I want an interview with someone who worked under Dennis and now Brown.

From clean shaven butthole waxed to tattoos and jelly donut stains.
