Tired of these "human rights" articles already. We get it, it's been said, they are still going to race.
Todt is going to make money wherever he can. F1 had always walked into countrie with political and social turmoil and nothing will change anytime soon.

Perez sandbagging or testing a different setup that Max? He finished in P1 over a second slower than Max, sitting in 11th.

He might just be pulling a Perez. Or the duct tape came off his wing.
FP1 is hard to pull any real info from. Different engines and fuel loads.

Yep, I wouldn't take much from the standings in Free Practice sessions. They're mostly just doing trial and error on setup and getting familiar with the track.

FP2 we should see some race run sims. Be interesting to see how the tires act differently at night.

Qualifying will be interesting with all these blind corners and people going slow on the track to set up flying laps.
Maybe designing such a fast circuit to be so narrow and with so many blind corners wasn't the best idea.

Man, that course looks awesome on TV.

It wouldn’t be a Friday without a Ferrari crash. At least Leclerc walked away.

I don’t see anyway we get an incident free Sunday.

I agree.. and will also add Quali into the mix
F1 poll question of the weekend...
Do you think a crash will happen this weekend (by any driver) that will cause serious ramifications for the title fight??

No lie, a 3 or 4 car pileup wouldnt surprise me.. this track isnt looking very forgiving in some turns (I'm looking at you max and lewis)
Another question... with such a fast track and 3 DRS zones, how hard will it be for a driver to gain a 1 second advantage over the following car??

This track looks awesome to drive, but not great for racing. The onboards are nuts. Luckily, it looks like we will get a few safety cars or red flags to keep it close (hopeful for no injuries). Qualifying could be a spectacularly fun shitshow to watch.

I'd say they're pretty high for 1+ second gaps. It's so curvey and fast that I feel like following too close will be hard. Too much dirty air to keep the speed for the following car. My non-expert opinion. I'd love to be wrong.

You make a good point, and something I hadn't really considered... with the circuit being so narrow and bordered by concrete barriers, it could very well act as a tunnel, trapping a lot of dirty air... I just saw where teams are predominantly using their medium downforce wings this weekend, which cause significant drag (and thus turbulent air) as compared to something like a Monza wing

Seems reallt technical, but watching practice I just don't see where they can pass. Would imagine divebombing the final corner will be pretty popular.
Masi did put out a min time for out/in laps, so that should help some in quali. Hope there isn't some bullshite penalty given if someone doesn't get out of the way.

Hamilton lucky to not be wearing a Haas car. The Mercedes pit wall must have been sleeping.

Red Bull fared some good results in P3, especially Perez with a big improvement.
