The other part of that is that Pirelli only has to notify the teams of which compounds will be on offer 2 weeks before the race.
Well so much for that idea. Pirelli has laid out the compound choices for the entire calendar. (C1 is the hardest compound and C5 is the softest.)

As long as my boys Danny Ricc and Gasly find a podium or two this season, I’ll be happy

Hamilton will roll again but its time for Dani boy to get back to the top.

I can't wait for winter testing, the McLaren/Aston/Alpine/Ferrari fight could be a fun watch this year, all 4 have some fairly unanswered questions. How well and quickly will McLaren be able to get up to pace with their new Mercedes engine? How will Seb do at Aston? How will Alonzo do? Will Ferrari ever get it together?
They've really done a good job of giving a steady trickle of F1 content leading up to the season start.
Car Reveals:
McLaren: 2/15
McLaren on track testing: 2/16
AT: 2/19(today)
Alfa: 2/22
Red Bull: 2/23
Merc: 3/2
Alpine: 3/2
Aston: 3/3
Williams: 3/5
Ferrari: 3/10
Haas: TBD
Winter testing: 3/12-3/14
Drive to Survive 3: 3/19
Season Opener: 3/28

I definitely think thats the most likely situation, unless 2 things happen:
1) McLaren struggles to integrate the Merc PU into a chassis built round the architecture of the Renault PU (i will be praying to the sweet lord baby jesus that this doesnt happen).
2) Ferrari has ACTUALLY improved their PU and found a way to re-gain the power that they lost after the 2019 fuel-flow shadiness that saw their car go from serious championship contender, to absolute shitbox. (I highly doubt that they improve enough to catch RB and Merc, but if they truly have improved the PU like they claim, they could definitely be in the discussion for top 3. Not to mention Haas and Alfa might see much improved performances similar to 2018 with an upgraded Ferrari PU).
So many possibilities, i cant wait!!!

I thought about risking it, but my worry isn't about the event, my worry is if Canada allows recreational travel then.

I dont think this will be a problem, tbh... the Renault PU has a higher COG... and it looks like McLaren has done a great job of tightening the profile of the engine cover and redesigned their back half with new triangulation for lower rake... all 3 should mean faster times if their shite is in order
As far as

Still TBD (duh) but they had better have done some serious serious work to get that engine up to par with the rest of the field... I honestly doubt (and could be very wrong) that is the case without any kind of frickery going on i.e. 2019

I wonder if the cooling will be an issue. The teams further back running Merc PU don't seem to have the issue, but Merc themselves seem to struggle any more than 4th, which would be the Mclaren wheelhouse for competing.

4. Cost cap - excited to see how this plays out (does it do anything to the gap between 1 & 10)
8. New tire compounds - inb4 Lewis groans about tyre problems
9. No DAS (suck it Mercedes) - this was shady to start
10. Automatic tire allocations - this is dumb. Give it to the teams to make these mistakes (as you all have noted
13. Larger (18") rims and lower profile tires - can’t wait to see the new cars in motion with the different wheel config
Prediction
1. Merc (Lewis takes all time, Bottas is done, George comes in and wins WDC ‘22 - BET)
2. RB (I think RB finishes <75 points out of 1st)
3. Mclaren. (Dani & Lando send it all szn)
4. Aston Martin (Stroll cost them 3rd but Seb keeps them in 4th)
5. Alpine (Alonso)
6. Toro Rosso (engines!)
7. Ferrari (Leclerc is overrated & Sainz learning curve)
8. Williams (new money, new team, GEORGE RUSSELL)
9. Alfa (GLOVES)
10. Haas (bc Haas)

A.R. spent their development tokens on the new front end
Interesting design on the main plane of the wing... still wide front nose and heavily inboard load concept tho

Agreed. I think LeClerc has proven himself on the course and he seems to be maturing.

Has anyone here been to the Mexico City Grand Prix?
Posted on 2/27/21 at 11:50 am to Lima Whiskey
I have heard it is one of the more fun GP's.
Not sure on rolling the dice this year with Montreal or Mexico City.
