Also surprised by RBR's decision to send Perez after the fastest lap rather than the constructor point(s).

Considering how much ground Hamilton was gaining on Max in the championship, every point counts, so it's not surprising to me that they would sacrifice a constructor point to deny Hamilton an extra driver point.

All I can imagine is Toto grabbing Russell out of the Williams, throwing a laptop in front of him, and saying "If you vant that seat next year, you vill to make a powerpoint in precisely three minutes."

Yeah, I always look at the constructors points as more valuable, but RBR might not care. Or maybe a WDC pays more in sponsorship.

Or maybe it was just a not so subtle FU to Hamilton.

Makes a lot more sense if Perez is out of the points, but RBR has a lot more data and strategy insight than I do for these things.

No idea what they are waiting on to reveal Bottas' future. Toto after the race was speaking about Bottas is past tense. Saying it was hard being a teammate of WDC champion for year and that he would get Bottas a seat for the future.

Am I correct that Toto is both Russell and Bottas' manager?

I don't believe he is still Bottas' manager. Seems like he gave it up when Bottas came to Mercedes. I believe Mika now controls a lot of that.

Not sure if there is a conflict of interest type situation.

Could Bottas end up in Formula E if Toto has an offer?

I'd go to rally, but I'm not Bottas. WRC is so much more awesome than Formula E.

Being a Finn rally makes sense, but he had an offhand comment that he doesn't think he can make a career of it. I think Kimi has said the same thing.

From GP Blog

quote:

Jack Plooij then reports that Verstappen had a visit to the medical centre, after which he went to the hospital for a CT-scan because he was a bit dizzy

That makes me think brain injury.

I missed this after the race, but apparently Daniel interrupted a reporter to ask about Max.

quote:

Ricciardo interrupted Ziggo Sport's pit reporter, to say: "Sorry, I wanted to ask if there was any news about Max. Is he okay?

I don't think it was shared with any of the drivers that Max had gone to the hospital. It seemed that the info started filtering to them when they made it to the media pen.

There is a video where the medical chopper almost caused Stroll to lose it because it was hovering low above the track in a braking zone. That chopper was coming in to get Max around lap 23.

Realized this now. WCC stayed the same gap, the WDC allowed Max the extra point. Only Checo took the hit, but he was under investigation anyway so he could have lost the position anyway.

Don't say anything bad about His Highness. SKY Sports and Mercedes will have you banned from the internet.

I don't know if they have a history, but I wonder what would happen with a Kimi/Valtteri pairing at Alfa Romeo. Lots of dry interviews I'd imagine

A few of us are doing COTA in October. We have our tickets but don’t have the lodging just yet. Looking at AirBNBs right now which aren’t as bad as we had expected but has anyone done an RV or have tips on where to stay in relation to the track and getting in and out of there? Someone suggested to us that we charter a helicopter

I think the people making comments are trash, but its their right to do so. It helps identify the losers in this world.
But who are those people? The "racist" soccer tweets were mostly from Africa and the ME, but it didn't stop the call for more rules and thought policing, as well as arresting people for online statements.

This is deliberate. They get some foreigners to make posts on twitter, knowing they won't have any consequences for them where they are - and they use that to browbeat people in the home country.

This is going to start happening a lot. It seems to be a new trusty tactic.

Had it not been for the red flag, Hamilton would have DNF'd due to damage
So you examined the car?

And yes, it is very possible to bump a guy off and have it be far less risky. It happens all the time, and F1 obviously agrees.

Considering the Merc engineer said:

quote:

“We'd failed the rim where we'd had the contact on the front-left,” said the team’s trackside engineering director Andrew Shovlin, “so that would have been a DNF had it not been red-flagged.

Possible on slower portions of the track, but very unlikely on the fastest turn of the track. No one is going to intentionally wreck at 250+ kph. That's lunacy. It's not like turn 4 at Austria or turn 10 at Interlagos where Hamilton went in to Albon at less than 100 kph.
