Kind of off-topic: at COTA, for the evening concerts, has anyone purchased the concert upgrade, and if so, was it worth it or not?

Nope, and we went to Brittney Spears and watched it from the hill 100 yds from stage and it was fine.

You admit to that?

I got tickets through a COTA employee with the concert upgrade for free. had a great view of britney's "dancing" throughout the show and it was pretty wide open. if you don't do the upgrade i would think there is a big rush to get to the front of that fence line to have a good view.
Would I pay for the upgrade? probably not unless I was really interested in the band.

new pit stop regulations incoming (autosport)
Guess this is what Marko was getting on about with their pitstops being called into question.
quote:
Citing safety concerns, motor racing’s governing body has addressed complaints that the stops of some outfits are faster than can be achieved by following the current rules to the letter.
quote:
The suggestion is that some stop procedures may involve a higher degree of automation than is expected, and this has allowed teams to achieve record-breaking times.
quote:
Article 12.8.4 is clear that: “Devices which are used to fit or remove wheel fasteners may only be powered by compressed air or nitrogen. Any sensor systems may only act passively.”
quote:
Teams have been given three races to prepare for the new requirements as they may need to change their procedures and it could cause trouble to force them to do so without enough time for preparation.
Guess this is what Marko was getting on about with their pitstops being called into question.

I would imagine it having to do with Red Bull automating the signal from the wheel gun that the tire is secure, instead of the crew pushing the button on the gun, to confirm the nut is tight
Those guns have to run on compressed gas, but there are also a decent amount of electronic components and sensors on them... I just can't imagine RBR would think of throwing an electric motor in those guns... that would be fairly easy to catch
So with the talk of the sensors, and the clarification the FIA have made on how long they expect each action (crew inspecting the nut, signaling the nut is secure, and dropping the jack) to take... it makes sense that automating a sensor to signal the tire is secure could save a few tenths of a second
Hell, it's kind of brilliant
Just my take

I don't like that there wasn't a couple of incidents to spark this action. If a few cars were sent out with issues I get this directive.
The rule is sort of the rule here so if RBR isn't using an automation then they are clear.
People knew Brady was deflating balls or Belichick was recording practices before the final incidents. Those in the know weren't hurt before then though.
These comments and prodding are proof that Merc has been sitting on a lot of info and not bringing it up because they felt their position is secure.
It really is. I like it.

I agree. It's already a self policing system. Send a car out without a secure wheel nut and retire the car. That alone will ensure that the teams are releasing their cars safely.

There was a couple incidents....
.....of red bull winning races.
Wouldn't surprise me one bit if mercedes or Ferrari ratted them out.
Especially with all the back and forth between Toto and Horner lately.

Gasly and Tsunoda both top 5 in FP1

Where all are they enforcing it? Last year it was just on the last turn that things were really enforced.
And on the pit regulation, just saw a replay of Bottas spinning out in the pits. Talk about an unsafe release

Another race, another opportunity to see how Tsunoda screws up qualifying. It's a high-pressure situation and he's a head case. You'd think they would have a driver coach helping him to stay focused on how to handle each lap. The pressure seems to eat him up.
