Mohamed Coulibaly, a 24-year-old accused of mastermindng a multi-million dollar scam targeting professional athletes, was found dead in a swimming pool at a South Jersey home on July 31, 2026.

Three former NFL players collectively lost over $1 million. Former New York Giants linebacker Tae Crowder lost his entire savings of $500,000 to the scheme. Other high-profile clients listed as investors included Philadelphia Eagles stars Nakobe Dean and Jalen Carter.

“According to a July investigation from Barron’s, a man named Mohamed Coulibaly ran an e-commerce scam with a company called Motion Ventures. The scam targeted professional athletes, as Coulibaly convinced the athletes to invest in fraudulent shopping sites. Coulibaly, who originally denied the claims in an interview with The New York Post, was found dead in his pool earlier this month. Over the weekend, multiple Instagram posts — including the one to which Hopkins replied, from an influencer named Tony Robinson — connected Keim to the scheme, although it was not clear at the time how Keim was involved. But on Monday, Aug. 10, Pro Football Talk obtained a pitch deck from Motion Ventures that listed Keim as the “chief operation/growth officer.” According to the report, Keim was the only person other than Coulibaly featured in the pitch deck.”
