But compared to what was offered in BR as far as sports knowledge by hosts, he was money on alot of shite. He brought something that NO host in this town could bring. Never denied that, in fact I mentioned that he was insightful if you could get past the snootiness and condescension. I can't.
I've heard varying opinions on how good a scout he is, but he does a better job than any of these media/scout hybrids in selling himself. He's on every radio show national and local that you turn on seemingly. And he obviously has the experience on football to give more insight than any of the local hosts...that is of course obvious.

I liked all of the local guys, but not necessarily all of the local callers. Yeah, they could be lazy, but for the most part I feel like they played to the market they were in, and it appeared to be working.
I've heard all the stories about Condon going to rehab and the like...Honestly, with the economy being what it is, the likely scenario is that his other job told him he couldn't leave three hours early anymore every day and needed to sell that wood.
Jimmy was lucky to be on 1210 after he had made the jump to 1300 and Gustav killed the station shortly after that.
Jordy's features on "Hump Day" and with Doug Moreau were great, but I too also tired of hearing Carl the Cat and New Orleans Bobby diatribes.
Buddy is just spicy and Un-Buddy-and Manda-and O-O-O-Olinde's-and Fuzzy Tacos-leivable.
Don't know what's going to happen to any of these guys, but I do suppose this means Buddy no longer has the longest running show in Baton Rouge...Scona has that title now.
I guess this is a CSB post more than anything else, but I don't see another station allowing this much local programming in sports again in Baton Rouge, and that's somewhat a shame.
I do need the Fox Fantasy Freaks back next season though.

With me living in Montana since 2008, i always enjoyed listening online and catching a feel of the flavor down around Tiger town. Sure I always keep up on the Rant but was nice to listen to some of the callers. Sorry for the guys in the way it happened which sounded pretty sad imo.

Not tryin to be a dick, But his snootiness is what he brings cause nobody can match him in THIS area. I have been following football for 45 years and I prob know more about the history of the game than him BUT I haven't been where he has or in THE KNOW like him. But the more I think about it, YOU may have called tk's show and challenged Chris and he told you to go away. Just sayin.

Mike Dellecanno is an example of a peer or contemporary of Landry's who IMHO does what Landry does without the condescension. I don't know how they compare as scouts or touts. I'm no expert there. But I respect Mike and he's to me likeable. Landry to me is not.

Not that it matters two shakes, but I like Delecanno and Landry. I guess I never really noticed the attitude of Landry... but honestly would hear him, and not even know who he was...
I used to listen to Brando on Conference Call and he seemed to do his best to raise himself above everyone in any way possible... and I don't care what info or insight you might have... if you're not writing me a check... you're losing me quick if you have to put others down to push yourself up...
I wish all of the best, and as of now, there is no local sports talk that I care to listen to... and the national stuff is iffy at best. Who cares what the Devils or Nicks are doing?

the longer the intro, the less time you have to spend stalling by interviewing random callers on their thoughts on today's sports topics. Bud man would lead into each hour with a full 5 minute song and his top of the hour break by the end went from 12:50 to 1:12.

I think Matt Dunn has his own morning show on the AM station out of Donaldsonville. Maybe Songy will end up on that station. I think it's 1590 KKAY, could be wrong though.
