This morning's show was a fill-in, if that's what you're referring to.

remember your remarks in old Food threads, and know whom you worked for.
You've got a very good memory, because I have'nt mentioned his name on here since he passed away over 2 years ago.
But yeah, thats exactly who I was talking about. We would get a heck of a crowd at the bar in the middle of the day for horse races, and I promise they were'nt there for the food...

We'll never know what may have have happened if the station were run differently, but the 'out for number 1' mentality was killer.
The station didn't promote the shows, the hosts didn't promote the station OR each other, the hosts were cashing in big time, but treating the station like an evil slave driver, but yet there was zero accountability.
In the end, the brass had much deeper pockets, and proved that a couple of local yokels were barely a blip on the radar, much less an asset.

you're on point today ...
sure .. they were all out there chasing the same advertising dollar .. but never realized there was enough to go around ... none of them ever really cared about the overall success of the station ...

There it is. The hosts could basically go out there and do dead air for 3 hours if they chose to, just as long as they paid their rent and plugged their sponsors everything was fine. There was no incentive to put a good product out there.

Not with the same host. Nothing against the hosts but that was not good radio.

If these sponsers pay them for a yr of advertising and the hosts no longer have a gig, do the hosts have to pay the sponsers back?

The 1 hour saturday morning show was good.
The daily version wasn't as good, mainly because he started out during BR sports dead period and karma was determined to talk tons of NBA. Who knows how it would have gone during football season though.

My fear in this whole thing is that Jon Fine will try to weasel his way back into local radio.
If I ever hear his voice again I just might drill my ears out with a paddle bit.
