Let’s reverse it, if LSU was in Florida State’s shoes how pissed off would you be?
If LSU was in the ACC and their best game was against FSU who was ranked 5th in the SEC - i'd get it.

4 best teams Such corruption

Ya know, I also think this is just an indication of the pervasive corruption that has swept through our Institutions. CFB being pretty unimportant in the big scheme of things compared to say COVID or the FBI or Voting or all the rest, but in the same philosophical vein. Everything feels arbitrary and punitive. Bama has a seat at the table and FSU just doesn’t. All of it combined leaves everyone feeling gaslit and that our Institutions can not be trusted. Again it’s not a big deal on its own but it’s just another crack in the cultural foundation, another message from Power down to take it and like it.

Glad you are not a lawyer! Would you like to make your case, or did you just need to get that off your chest?
Let me make this simple:
5 Conference champs got ranked #1-5...
Then, to see who made the top 4, one thing you can look at is record. But, WHO you beat matters. So, to see that, you look at strength of schedule (SOS), and here is how they stack up:
SOS:
#5 ALA
#11 WASH
#13 TEX
#33 MICH
#37 UGA (just in case they had beat Bama)
#55 FSU
It's pretty simple to see which 4 teams won against the tougher competition this year. Yes, FSU went undefeated, but they won against a weak schedule. Bama's only loss came against a CFP team AND they just beat the consensus #1 team in the country. So, that helped them. It also hurt FSU that Travis got hurt and the offense has been horrible since. Translation = FSU not in CFP.

That would never happen to benefit LSU. That’s the point.

Ask yourself if, LSU was in Alabama’s position, say even last year, if LSU had beaten Aggie and UGA. Do they put 11-2 LSU in over 11-1 Ohio St or any other 1 loss champ just because they won the SEC?
Alabama is the only school in the conference that gets in over Florida State and we all know why

This is what you had in the rankings for the 2022 CFP.
1) Georgia 13-0 (SEC Champs)
2) Michigan 13-0 (Big 10 Champs)
3) TCU 12-1 (Big 12 Champs)
4) Ohio St. 11-1 (Big 10 Runner-ups)
Clemson 11-2 (ACC Champs)
Utah 10-3 (Pac 12 Champs)
LSU 9-4 (SEC West Co-Champs)
If we had beaten aTm and UGA, that would still have seen UGA at 12-1 while we would have been 11-2 SEC Champs.
Based on what they did to Clemson, I am guessing this is how it likely would have gone in your hypothetical scenario:
1) Michigan 13-0 (Big 10 Champ)
2) TCU 12-1 (Big 12 Champ)
3) LSU 11-2 (SEC Champ)
4) Georgia 12-1 (SEC Runner-up)
Oh St knocked out in favor of UGA because of slightly better record and better SOS, and, although Clemson and Utah are Conference Champs, their records have too many losses to move them up the rankings to include in the playoffs. You want to include the Conf. Champs, but that is ONE factor to start with. There are others. This year, the records are essentially the same.

Just a reminder that TCU didn't win the Big 12 last year. They have more resume swag than Georgia apparently.
Posted on 12/3/23 at 5:03 pm to js1591
You are incorrect. The committee did exactly what they are instructed to do. The protocol given to the committee direct them to consider the effect of the absence of any key player or coaches on any team that had a significant effect on the success of the team. It’s in blackout and white in the instructions they are to follow. FSU has lost their first and 2nd string QBs. They just followed their protocol.

What body of work? Going 4-6 vs the ACC or 7-9 vs other power 5 conferences?
The conference is massively overrated this year. Recency bias is the only reason they got in

so the melt is so strong its on the more sports board as well. impressive

frickin louisville just lost to the 8th best SEC team before playing for their conf championship
And I’m so glad 4-8 wake forest beating 2-10 Vanderbilt means so much to you
LSU fans really are the dumbest in the sec
