possibly, but if it's a locker room distraction then there is a reason not to sign them
this x infinity

teams will pass on gays not because they are gay but because of this, but wil get hammered by the media for discrimination when that's really not their purpose

Sounds like he picked the right time to come out. Just like Gooddell picked the perfect time to punish the Saints for bounty gate, do it while there's a Tebow story running and no one will talk about it

Think it's time for Julio Jones to come out.

The same reason why we're giving Jason Collins credit for being an Active NBA player even though he's not on a team and is a free agent that averages less than 4 points a game. Because the story attracts eyeballs.

this whole hes not a current nba player thing is funny to me. the season just ended last week. so i guess all players who became free agents when the season ended are currently not in the nba?

We could have said the same thing about the Dodgers when they signed Jackie Robinson. "A black player would be a distraction because his racist teammates will cause problems."

IMO, it isn't the front office's problem if the players are homophobic.

Yes, because of the level of homophobia in the black community.

Winner. Rural whites are just as bad though

Espn has Tebow getting cut as their #1 story.

@ESPNSteinLine 36s
Another team sees "100 percent chance" Collins on NBA roster in 2013-14 cause "he can still play." Another: Weak free-agent C crop helps too

Good for him. It would obviously be a bigger story if he was a star, but maybe this will be the first step. I'm sure there are dozens (hundreds) of gays in pro sports.

Oh good God yes, I hope they all decide in the next year to just all do it now and lets get past this. I personally have not one problem with anyone whose gay as long as they respect themselves and others just as I would expect straight people, or hell..anyone to. The glass ceiling is cracked and now the others who are should go ahead and bust it out so everyone can move on and the issue of someone being gay or not is no longer an issue.

lol...I would say he is probably 70%, Tebow...almost sure fire 100%.thus the reason he is sooo into his religious beliefs to thwart the conversation he is gay. Listen, if your a professional sports player and you are not in a relationship with a woman by at least your 2nd or 3rd year considering all the bank your making, its a pretty good bet your a homosexual man.

Collins' essay is quite good. I don't know much about the guy, but he seems like a great "ambassador" so to speak.

It's because he hardly plays and he is pretty close to not being in the nba. I think he will get picked up, though, like he has every other year
