I’m sure plenty of women have been using their middle finger since the dawn of man

Baseball is also responsible for the first known use of the high five.
Dusty Baker invented it after a teammate hit a HR

I thought you were joking. I looked it up and that’s gotta be one of the most random but true facts ever.

Archers, right?

They would cut off their draw fingers when captured, and they would show their enemies their middle fingers to show em "frick you i still got mine"

Least thats what i always heard.

It doesnt even make sense that this pic would be the first known use. It would be a meaningless picture if it was. "Hey im gonna do this thing to the camera. It doesnt mean anything....yet. Lets see if takes off and the whole world gets it....one day haha!"

It is his middle finger. There is a good book about his 59 win season called Fifty Nine in '84. It mentions his flipping off the camera.
