This angle is bullshite. If you are playing by these rules, then the Wisconsin coach had the right to start wailing away once Howard put his finger in his face and grabbed his shirt. But ya know what? He DIDN'T. Why?
Because he is a civilized individual who knew better. Howard is not.

Wrong. The Wisconsin coach has the right to point out to Juwan Howard that his gripe is not valid because they were pressing the backups.
If the Wisconsin coach tells the media about it after, those defending Howard would say, “why doesn’t he say that to Juwan’s face?” The Wisconsin coach had every right to point out to Juwan that he has no right to gripe while pressing the backups with 15 seconds left in the game.
Those kind of things happen all the time between coaches. I’ve never seen a head coach start swinging. Players, sure. Coaches, never.

I loathe the "muh disrespect" argument
Howard initially refused to go into the handshake line because he was butthurt. Then he decided he would go so that he could blow by Gard but simultaneously talk shite. So he and all his defenders can frick off. Howard was looking for trouble

I'd guess by people commenting in it.
You know, like you just did

When was the last time a head coach at a major program swung at an opposing coach?

I doubt he gets punished. He'll be judged by a completely different set of rules because of his color and the "need" for black coaches.
It's not right for us to judge him because his culture is different.

You can't open-hand smack another coach and not be punished

It’s a negligible angle because Howard lost the ability to claim self-defense when he grabbed Gard by the collar of his shirt with both hands and started getting in his face, can’t claim self-defense when you use excessive force against the initial aggressor.

howard waited until the end of the line to make a confrontation, he refused to shake hands to make it a confrontation, he said something under his mask to create a confronation, then he got the confrontation he wanted
Gard said in the PC he wanted a chance to explain himself to howard, but the way Howard reacted it escalated immediately because that is what Howard wanted. he is more concerned with his ego and being “disresprcted” than leading his team in the proper manner. everything else is just details

Fab Five gonna Fab Five.
No titles won and the NCAA wiped their accomplishments off the books because they got heavily paid to be there.

Approaching 24 hours and crickets from Michigan and the B1G.

This.
It happens a couple of times per year in high-profile games on national TV. Coaches have a disagreement and talk for a few seconds and then go on their way. I'm sure it happens way more once you count the smaller conference games that we never watch or hear about.
It never ends in punches/hands being thrown. The reason it did is because Juwan Howard is an immature idiot and a horrible leader.

Not much to be investigated. Both coaches told us exactly what happened in their post game press conference. The video is out there, more than one angle.
The only question is what was said with the assistant coach who ended up getting swung at. But as it concerns Juwan Howard, does it really matter what was said? Howard was moved away from the initial confrontation. He chose to jump back in and take a swing.

This.
Your IQ must be below room temperature to believe perceived "disrespect" justifies physically fighting opposing coaches. The idea that you're owed "respect" for existing is bullshite.

As Jason Whitlock wrote, he’s been fully blackcinated.

This is the biggest reason he should be fired.
It was about to be over. Just a little scrum and everyone back to the locker rooms. Your head coach, your leader, the face of your program is the guy who jumps back in and throws the first "punch" and ignites the whole thing.
He should be the one holding his players back and making sure it doesn't escalate any further. Instead, he acts like a hooligan.
His behaviors will not change, as he has proven. If he is not fired now, he will be in the future after a very similar incident. Guaranteed. (Assuming he is not fired for simply being a shitty basketball coach first).
