I mean Germany wouldn't be dancing around if they scored 13 goals against some US college team.

Thank god we aren't the Germans!!! I'm sorry the Germans aren't allowed to smile or cheer. Again, girls like Rose Lavelle, Mallory Pugh, Sam Mewis and Lindsey Horan ALL scored their FIRST EVER World Cup goals and you want them to NOT cheer? You want them to be stoned face like the Germans? The next generation of girls are out there watching and dreaming of being those very same players. It's the very fact that they celebrate and win that makes them want to dream that dream as well. I would 100% cheer my arse off on my first ever world cup goal. You better believe that!

One more thing, Thailand couldn't beat a college team. That's how bad the sport of Women's Soccer is.

It's the world cup... score early, score often, celebrate every time.

There’s no such a thing as running up the score in soccer for fricking sakes. Keep your football sensitive mangina mentality out of soccer.

Running up the score and celebrating on semi pros is pretty trashy behavior.

No problem with "running up the score". It's the World Cup.
No need to have ridiculous celebrations after the 4th-5th goal though.
High 5 and hug your teammates and get back to it.

For the 3rd time, 4 of these goals were scored by women who were scoring their first World Cup goals ever. Why can’t they celebrate? That’s a HUGE deal. Every single one of you would be excited as hell, if in the pinnacle of your sport, you scored a goal. Imagine your family being there to witness it. But of course, let’s show zero emotion. Those first time scorers have nothing to apologize for. Maybe MLB players should stop keeping the ball for their first major league hit. I mean if they are up 10-0 in that game I guess that would be “trash” too. I hope we beat Chile 15-0 and they celebrate even harder just to piss people off. My god

I think they should just call off the tournament and give everyone a trophy but that’s just IMO.

Meh. They're pro soccer players. They know the normal decorum. They also know that scoring a goal in a game where everyone on your side is scoring against a team that has no business being there isn't the same as scoring in a competitive match.

I think it's fair to say "they're young, they got excited, probably shouldn't have made such a scene but no reason to get all worked up about it," but I don't think that's your position. Also the MLB comparison is ridiculous.

Your comparison doesn’t hold water because every team in the WC qualified by the same set of standards (even if some had an easier road). In that sense they are equals.

To treat Thailand as some sort of lesser opponent is way more disrespectful. It’s amazing people don’t get that.

Accept a MLB would NEVER face a college baseball pitcher in any scenario. We did however play Thailand, a team that FIFA officials deemed worthy of a World Cup qualifying spot. Simply put, these girls had every right to celebrate their first ever goals and so would you. Most of you are flat arse lying through your teeth if you say you wouldn’t have celebrated your first goal ever and just been ho hom or “showed humility” afterwards. These girls have dreamed their whole life of scoring a World Cup goal and now you want them to “show humility”. I just don’t get it...

And nobody gets credit for their “first” major league hit in spring training. Major difference there... Jesus...

No, they don't.

Just saying they scrimmage college teams.

I'm with you, celebrate like you just scored a goal in the World Cup, regardless of the score.
