And of course soccer.

There was an article in Sports Illustrated awhile back...about that entire era of white athletes that were basically told - "you can't play basketball" - "white men can't jump" - "you are too slow, too unathletic" - there was tremendous racism toward the white athlete...so kids who were born in the 80's - didn't grow up playing basketball...

They weren't told they weren't good enough for baseball - so they played baseball and then soccer became popular in the 90's.

While the white element in the NBA was replaced by foreign-born players who weren't told in Europe or South America that they weren't good enough by coaches and the media like kids were in America.

I've had conversations about this with a brother-in-law overseas - he's British - and when people grow up with soccer, they don't see the black athlete as superior to the white athlete...it's totally different than here in America.
