Glad for him! I'm retired from those booths now, last time I tried one, I almost blew up my arm to barely hit 70.

Not trying to need Tommy John surgery in my 40s working my office job.

This got us talking & I know it'll bring honest answers..

If someone, this second, offered you $100k if you are able to predict how hard you can throw within 2-3 mph. No crow hop, no sand bagging, as hard as you can throw. What's your number?

I hit 92 on one last October and there ain't no chance in hell that I can throw that. The fastest I've ever hit in highschool was 84. That was 20 years ago

Watching him try to hurl those is making my shoulder feel awful

I hit around 88 in hs but velocity wasn’t my game. I don’t think I could or would want to even throw 60 right now. I hurt for days just throwing in the backyard with my gf’s son.

Hit 87 mph back in the day now almost twenty
years if I tried I could probably hit 70 mph and my shoulder and arm would hurt for a week

61 mph, if that radar is correct at the Zephyrs game. Throwing anything overhand these days ends up hurting for a bit. I way overtrained during the 1990s when Muscle and Fitness told me that after 72 hours of inactivity you lost your gainz in a muscle group. So we worked chest and shoulders every other day. bullshite.

It is.

For us regular baws who played ball in highschool, anything over 90 is fast a frick.

We had one pitcher who threw consistently in the mid 90s. I was a catcher, and the movement on his 2 seamer was hard for me to keep up with. Can't tell you how many 3rd strikes I dropped before I finally got used to that kind of speed and adapted my technique.

ETA: dropped a ton of 1st and 2nd strikes too, but obviously those are less important

The Jim Morris route but quite a bit younger. I wonder who plays him in “The Rookie 2”
