Half the field is trying out the ultra bold strategy of driving without tires..

Forget pre-race, that podium was awesome with the raising of the car.

Seems like whatever strategy Ferrari goes with on race day this year is bound to blow up in their faces.
Even when they finished 1-2, they pissed off LeClerc, and when they got a win at Monza, Vettel acted like he had given up on his career.

Not a bad race. HAM won which made everyone think it was boring, but a lot of action.
VER voted driver of the day
Lost 4 spots
Ran wide half a dozen times
Bold pass that triggered a puncture
Finished 40 seconds behind his teammate

Mexico is wild, love it. Kicking myself for not going this year. Will be taking vacay in prep for next year.
MSBF1 fly away race. I'm covering Obtuse1's bar tab if he agrees to drop racing knowledge throughout the weekend

I just noticed that the title sponsor for the US Grand Prix is Emirates, the airline that flies 112 A380 double-decker planes out of Dubai.
It sounds weird that the title sponsor for a major US sporting event is an Arab company that doesn't really have a US presence, considering how many global US companies there are that could justify the sponsorship for the worldwide visibility. I looked up the US companies that are current F1 sponsors, and many of these could easily have justified being the title sponsor of the US Grand Prix:
Exxon Mobil
Boeing
IBM
AT&T
HP
Dell
Qualcomm
Marriott
Symantec
Logitech
Bose
UPS
Tommy Hilfiger
Monster Energy
Pure Storage
CrowdStrike
3D Systems
Netjets
Tibco
Philip Morris (huge but can't sponsor a race)
I get that companies whose main market is the US can't justify F1, but global companies should recognize how big F1 is internationally.

Considering Austin is Dell HQ, I also find this interesting.

Should be interesting to watch the teams try and get the tires switched on. Any kind of caution will be interesting since late in the race the track sits in a lot of shadows.

There's some local opposition to the planned Miami GP. A former county commissioner showed up to a public forum and had this to say.
This is the genius who thinks F1 races kill spectators or people just living near the circuit. Or renders people deaf. So if you're going to Austin this weekend, beware that you're never going to hear again.
Also Danny Ric is going to lose a few fans for the weekend.
Actually looks pretty cool though.

They can produce all kinds of phony statements about how they can mitigate the deadly effects, but we can never erase deadly health damage, and possibly permanent hearing loss, especially to children. Even the county’s own study verifies the deadly effects.

Miami GP isn't going to happen. That was known as soon as it was proposed.

Do they have other options in consideration?

That sucks. Miami is the most GP place in the country

It comes down to money obviously. Miami/Florida politics have no desire to put forward any money for this. I forget the numbers, but Texas puts out a lot of money to make the GP happen and the attendance there is great. Also seems great for the city of Austin too.
From what I have read New York has the best possibility, but even that is a stretch. Vegas maybe, but they need a track.
Miami keeps getting proposed, maybe they will figure out something if some big dollars step up.

Many parking lots to choose from.

They've limited it to major media markets. So that pretty much rules out any existing circuits like Road America. They failed to get back the Long Beach GP. A place like Laguna Seca would be Monaco 2.0. So it's street circuits in a major city, which seems highly unlikely.
This proposal was about as good as it gets. It was basically confined to the Dolphins stadium parking lot and people are fighting it.

Most of the land proposed is owned by Stephen Ross who is the promoter of the race.

Maybe install jumps or water hazards to make it interesting.
