Explain these two rankings to me please. I am open to solid arguments changing my mind.

First:

Wisconsin #8
Florida #9

Same record. Florida has a better win than anything on Wisconsin’s resume (Auburn). Their losses are also much better (competitive games to #2 and #4 as opposed to a massacre to #1 and a terrible Illinois team). They have a better SOR and SOS, a higher FPI, and are ranked 3 spots higher in the polls.

I understand Wisconsin has more top 25 wins, but is that the only reason? Because if so, that is hog wash.

Second, and probably the most egregious one to me:

#19 Cincinnati losing by 10 to #18 Memphis and only dropping to #20

Cincinnati has ZERO top 25 wins. The only currently ranked team they played besides Memphis, they lost to 0-42. You can’t give me the eye test bullshite either, because they narrowly escaped power houses like 4-8 ECU, 4-8 Tulsa, and 4-8 USF. Cincinnati in no way belongs in the top 20 and probably not the top 25. I don’t think they’d be favored over any other team in the top 25.

And I will echo what Clay Travis said:

quote:

Wisconsin, Penn State & Michigan are ranked seven spots higher in CFB rankings than in AP or Coaches Poll. UF, Bama & AU are six spots lower in CFP than in AP or Coaches.

Pretty unreal.

We need a stronger word than "blatant".

Obviously the Big 10 is just a far superior conference than the SEC.

They're strategically placed to help OSU.

People need to understand that these rankings after 1-4 aren't really "who is better." It's "where do we put these teams to set up possible moves next week." And it seems like in this case it's "how can we back up OSU at 1."

Yeah, they’re not. At all. Just dug into the recruiting rankings and it isn’t even close

Also, FTR, I am ok with being #2 to OSU.

This isn't really about that as much as it is the other teams that are clearly in a bullshite ranking, which will impact LSU/OSU next week.

If LSU wins this weekend and doesn't become #1, there should be riots. That resume would be one of the greatest in college football history.

Playoff rankings seem to indicate otherwise.

I see six Big 10 teams and only five from the SEC.

Obviously the SEC sucks at developing all of these highly regarded recruits.

They have no interest in ranking the teams correctly. They have an agenda, and they aren't even trying to hide it. I literally LOL'ed when I saw Cincinnati come up where they did last night.

Get your pitchfork ready because that's happening if chalk wins.

That 1 win is better than any of your 3 and they have FAR better losses.

So you admit you have to ignore Wisconsin's terrible loss to Illinois to justify them over Florida, that is what you're saying here, correct?

I dont understand vaulting Wisconsin up for beating Minnesota but then at the same time plummeting Minnesota down for losing to Wisconsin.

Does the committee value Minnesota or not?

This is where the “conspiracy” talks come in since Minnesota’s ranking doesn’t affect Ohio State at all

Just wait until UGA loses and drops 8 spots.

Who should they drop below? The team with a loss to Georgia Southern? The team with 4 losses? The team with a larger margin of defeat to Memphis?

At this point I'm resigned to LSU #2, but yes, if chalk holds I have little doubt Wisconsin wil barely drop and stay ahead of at least 2 of the 3 between UF/AUB/Bama to justify their rankings.

If, in the off chance, LSU gets #1, you'll see Wisconsin drop behind all 3 I'd guess.

The one common denominator of all "WTF" stuff that jumps out about the CFP rankings is how it props up Ohio State

They have manipulated the entire rankings, 1-25 solely to justify putting Ohio State at #1 over LSU.

And I hate LSU but it's very obvious.

And I would say our 3 ranked wins outweigh Florida's one quality win. We absolutely dominated 2 of our 3 ranked wins.

Florida has better losses, but I always thought that was an idiotic measurement of a team. Congratulations at failing better than UW.

Wisconsin is 5th in the Massey Composite.

Wisconsins's 2nd and 3rd best wins(Iowa, Minnesota) are much better than Florida (Tennesee, Kentucky).

The simulated BCS has Florida at 8 and Wisconsin at 9.

I'm sure it's very close.
