This is not sour grapes at all, I think he is a really great player.

but 45th ALL TIME? That is absurd. Objectively.

Agreed. If he gets hurt tomorrow and never plays again, will anyone really remember him 20 years from now?

Eh, he's 3rd all time in career PER. 8 seasons is obviously a bit limited, but that's an impressive stat.

I'm not a huge fan of rating active players vs retired guys because it's hard to judge. 45th isn't crazy like arguing he's top 15, and he does have some impressive stats under his belt.

Its pretty crazy.

I think you have to put current players on this list as if they retired today. If AD never played another minute, would you put him as the 45 greatest player of all time?

No, I seriously doubt it.

They don't, their player summary leads with:

"Davis, 27, makes this list off the promise of what's to come..."

Even today, Nique was at 46. Davis has a better stat line, and even at just 26, 7 ASG appearances to Nique's 9. He's not that far off from the guys right around him even if he retired today.

PER is a booty cheek stat.

There is so much wrong with this list I don’t even know where to start. And we have 40 more to go. And why 74? The frick kinda pageantry is that?

AD will 100% move higher than 45 by the end of his career, but at the same time, I don't have much issue with him being ranked where he is based on his body of work thus far.

The one player I'm keeping an eye out for is Kyrie. I hope not, but I have a feeling they will place him in the list for top 40. He came in a year before AD, yet he is definitely not the same level a player as him.

I would say absolutely so. If AD were to get hurt with career ending stuff and retire, he would always get remembered as a "what if" type of guy. Everyone would always speculate what could have happened had he never got hurt and retired. His first 8 years put him in the elite category comparing him with other players first 8 years in the league

TMac is on this list, even though his career took a sharp nosedive after injuries derailed his career at age 29. Injuries derailed Penny Hardaway and Grant Hill's career yet they are very well remembered. People still talk about Brandon Roy even though he had maybe 3 or 4 good years. People still talk about Greg Oden, and I'm not sure he ever played a full NBA season.

There is absolutely 0 chance, if AD retired tomorrow, that he would all of a sudden be forgotten.

This will have to many of today's players because they are incompetently lazy.

NBA is very offensive minded right now. Average PPG are insane.

So stats look better than the player would be in other, slower paced eras.

Lillard is not remotely close to top 100 best players, let alone the 72nd.

I predict Harden will retire as one of the very best players to never win a ring. Tragic

So now rebounding is more important than scoring?

So Horace Grant is better than Rodman but Pistol Pete isn't?

This is just what I was waiting for. I already know the controversy will come with wherever Harden is ranked. I would probably have him high 30s or low 40s, maybe closer to where AD is ranked.

But at the same time, I have no problem admitting that Harden is an elite level player. In all honesty if it wasnt for the KD warriors, I fully believe he would have had a ring by now.

not tragic at all. I think it would be justified.
