You'd actually think they would given their reaction to the Riley Cooper stuff
I guess they just like black people more than Native Americans

Anyone else notice that it really isn't the native american groups complaining about the name, rather a bunch of groups that have no affiliations with the name or the culture at all?

At least your "mascot" isn't named Captain Fear.
As a descendant 4 times removed from Blackbeard himself I'm fricking offended.

And they better damn well quit using the term Celtics. I ain't never seen any white guy that looked like this. I am offended!

They went though this a couple years ago. It was some white lady and a few friends complaining about it. I remeber a reporter spoke/ interview a couple of native Americans / Indians and asked them if they were offended by any sports team referencing indians or redskins, they could of cared less.
As a white guy, i could give a shite if a NFL team wanted to call themselves cracker arse crackers. In fact it would be my new favorite team and would dress up as a saltine to go to games.

Native Americans coined the term Redskin in reference to themselves. Funny how naive you are to things like historical facts.

OP, you need to try a new shtick besides aggrieved commie. Looks like it's not really catching on by your post history.

How did it come to be that the football team in Washington D.C. is named "The Redskins"? Marc Fisher, Metro Columnist for the Washington Post, 2002, explains saying that the official story is that when the Boston Braves football team left Braves Field to play at Fenway Park in 1933, the owner needed to find a new name for his squad. He chose Redskins in honor of Lone Star Dietz, the team's coach and an Indian who often wore an eagle feather headdress, beaded deerskin jacket and buckskin moccasins. Dietz brought four to six -- accounts vary -- Indian players with him to Boston from the Haskell Indian School in Kansas, where he had coached for four years.
