He said he doesn't have an agent in a interview awhile back. So I wonder why that got leeked

Listened to that same pod with Dietsch. Really good listening. Crazy how history is repeating itself in some ways

There were a few names I was surprised that were canned like Ed Werder. A few names I liked like Jim Bowden and Len Elmore. But a bunch of writers I never heard of that I won't miss. I guess Bob Ley made it out alive.
They went way overboard with a lot of their coverage. NFL Countdown and the MNF pregame became watered down with all the analysts, insiders, and reporters. I don't need Berman and 4 studio analysts plus Kolber and 3-4 more other analysts on the Monday night pregame. Not to mention the fact the pregame lasts 2-3 hours now. And NFL Live/NFL Insiders is on 5 days a week now with 4-5 more analysts/insiders/reporters. All these shows don't need more than 2-3 analysts. The rest is overkill. There is also too many spin off shows like ESPN Nacion and Sports Nation that regurgitate the same old takes that I've already heard before. I also don't see the need for the fancy new studio they built years ago. Bigger isn't always better. It really doesn't make me want to watch Sportscenter anymore. And why the hell does there need to be so many anchors on Sportscenter AM when 2 used to be plenty?

Such bullshite. One of the few analysts who actually talked about the actual game and didn't care about trolling.
Meanwhile Heather Dinnich remains employed. Screw ESPN.

Writing was on the wall after getting booted from CFFinal

I liked him. Should have cut someone else. I always found John Anderson and Kenny Mayne annoying. I hoped they would be gone. Every time I see Neil Everett he looks like he just woke up out of bed. He needs to be moved off TV. And why did ESPN have to have a location in LA? I have to think that was a big waste of money as well.

Informed I'm among ESPN's layoffs. But basketball, as they say, never stops. To readers/viewers/listeners/countless colleagues ... grateful

Holy frick! Steiny Mo got the axe? He definitely going to The Ringer

Stein and Abbott are huge names. Hollinger did great to go to Memphis before all this. I wonder if Abbott tries to go to an NBA gig as well.
Stein should definitely be a big name pick-up for someone.

Went to Reddit, according to Jim Miller, this is a move to open up space for Woj in the summer

it appears that true hoop (Abbott) was let go (and presumably his blog network) and now stein gone to make room for woj and the vertical's move to espn.
before there were NBA blogs, there was true hoop and I read that shite every day, every word.
and before there was woj, there was mark stein. This is insanity
above post beat me to it...

ESPN has got to be tired of Woj beating them to absolutely everything news-wise, and the interviews that the Vertical gets.

Yep, same. Just all the familiar faces being gone will be weird.

Steiny has broken more news than Windhorst and Shelbourne combined at ESPN... but because one is riding Lebron's coattails and the other is based in LA, they are safe.
Just maddening.
