Will and Taylor get old so fast. Pate is a boring stiff. No clue who this is for. Ig the same people that watch McAfee

idk what this is but it sounds like it's geared towards 13 year olds

A little McAfee every so often can be fun but bussin with the boys is beyond cringe.

I could see putting something like this on during a car ride, but I can't imagine making time for some of these idiotic shows/pods otherwise.

Another show no one will watch

One of these days, these networks will learn that podcasts do not make for successful TV shows..
Pate's livestream on YT averages about 50,000 views per show.
Bussin averages 2000-3000 per show on YT.
Other platforms will add more views but not many more.
For a studio show to be successful on ESPN, it needs daily 300k+. First Take and Get Up are around 450-550k per episode on average.
McAfee is at about 250-300k per episode. It's been a point of contention ever since he got to ESPN that his ratings do not match his podcast viewership. It suggests that his podcast numbers are inflated.
PTI is the gold standard. They get around 900k.
Any chance that shows that currently average together about 60k per show touch these numbers?
No. This show will probably die a fast death. Podcast people generally don't stick it out very long when TV ratings expose them for not being as popular as they think they are.

How many gyms are there in the US? I imagine like 75% of ESPN's "viewership" these days is just gyms leaving ESPN on all day on the tvs

A TV show with Josh Pate is fine if you're trying to have an early morning/late night show like NFL Matchup with Ron Jaworski. He's not charasmatic at all, if you're trying to create a show to draw in large viewership numbers.

Nielson just started to measure bar and restaurant viewership during live events. I don't think they are catching the TV's on in the gyms during the day.

Instead of ESPN TV, they should Pate a show on ESPN Radio. There his format may work.

I know who the Bussin With The Boys guys are, but I haven’t ever heard/seen their show. I’m just taking a wild guess here though, this new show will be college football with a more “cool and edgy” take

I believe tvs at the gym are part of their "out of home" segment:
Out of home: the TV audience that’s bigger than you think

Perhaps they are inflated, but a pod is 100x easier to consume than a tv show.

They already had the show last year guessing it’ll be just like Mcafee where the YouTube show will just now be aired on espn as well

quote:this board is so damn insufferable when it comes to sports talk shows. You hate skip and Stephen A you hate pat mcafee and his schtick and now you hate Josh pate because he’s too dry..you can hate skip bayless and Stephen A smith or you can hate Josh pate but you can’t hate both or you just need to stop watching because what other fricking demeanor do you want or thinks out there? One guy is super cerebral no emotion tried his best to not be hot take tv and the other is nothing but hot takes. What you want a sprinkle of hot takes when they’re talking saints or lsu but otherwise non biased?
