So it was a game between two fake high schools.
Except one's the Monstars and one's the team Stevie Douglas' dad put together for home schooled kids.

ESPN had been promised that the OH team was super talented and would be competition for IMG. Instead, they looked literally like dudes thrown together to play football. IMG went up 30-0 in the first quarter, and the announcers started apologizing. They admitted they’d been had, and said that they couldn’t confirm that the Ohio teams players were actually recruits. You could hear their disgust on national television. The game itself was delayed by weather a few times.
Stuart Scott would be rolling over in his grave

I went to high school and college in Ohio and I've never heard of Bishop Sycamore. ESPN is retarded. There are only a handful of schools in Ohio who can legitimately play on the same field as IMG.

Sycamore went 0-6 last year and lost last week to some Archbishop Hoban, 38-0. I think last year was their first year as a school
Hoban is a really good program who has won 5 of the last 6 D2 state titles, but they're expected to be down this year and it showed when they got their doors blown off by some nobody from New Jersey.

The QB apparently graduated high school last year lmao

They should have checked the 247Sports Composite.
It shows:
No 2022 recruits
One unranked 2023 recruit
No 2024 recruits
IMG has trouble scheduling games. It feels like they'll play anyone who wants to play them. They beat the crap out of most teams that play them.

Nothing “fake” about IMG

IMG football should play Montverde Academy basketball.
I don't give a shite if it makes sense or not, but the two most recruiting/cheating High schools in the country should be able to meet somehow in athletic competition. Plus, theyre both in Florida.

Sounds like a massacre. I just hope everyone was wearing their masks.

Yea. The hard part of scheduling for IMG, Bosco, Mater Dei, etc, is of their own making. They just bring in recruiting classes each year and then schedule actual high schools that they think are good butt have talent dips.
The Duncanville team that IMG beat last year was their worst team in 4 years. (They lost in the semis, btw to SLC who then got destroyed by Westlake in the finals).
Same thing Gorman tried to do a few years ago. They smashed Cedar Hill who was a defending state champ, but that Cedar Hill team lost in the first round of the playoffs that year, because it’s a high school that has ups and downs in elite talent.
Mater Dei killed Duncanville this weekend, but no one considers Duncanville a legit title contender this year.
The best things actual high schools could do is refuse to schedule those schools at all. Just make them fly across the country to play each other.

How can you not reach out to a few assistants at some Big Ten schools and a Cincy or something and figure this out? Seems pretty easy
What's sad is 10 year ago they could and would have.
This is Disney ESPN. They fired all their longtime behind scenes people in the ESPN purge a few years ago to cut costs. The people there now don't get the same resources and aren't nearly as experienced. That's why most of ESPN's daytime lineup is nothing but hot take artists. It's cheap and easy programing and if anyone gets too big shite can them and bring up another young host to take over.

How does something like this get all the way to the actual game being played before someone figured it out?
Posted on 8/29/21 at 11:24 pm to Ed Osteen
I need a 30 for 30 on this….
Posted on 8/29/21 at 11:52 pm to saintsfan22
I’d actually love to see highlights of this on Youtibe

It’s kind of more unbelievable than even the greatest of all time:

Lol it’ said the shite team played Friday night lol
Posted on 8/30/21 at 12:08 am to Tigerpride18
Apparently it was their JV or second squad that played on Friday.
I didn’t watch the game, but for those who did, was it that bad? IMG could beat a lot of teams like this.

They had a running clock for the whole second half… every district in America probably has games like that, but they’re not showed on national TV

So to recap ESPN aired a high school football game between the best team in the country vs a team that played less than 48 hours ago.
Put aside that it’s a very bad team from a shady school that lied to get on tv….. you ABSOLUTELY CANNOT play 2 games in 3 days. Insane.
quote:
Just how this got past ESPN is quite unfathomable, honestly. A thorough Google search would have told them all they needed to know that Bishop Sycamore wasn’t a legitimate program to face IMG Academy.
Part of me wants to give props to Bishop Sycamore for duping ESPN and getting their school on national television, but the injury risk to their players in a meaningless game of football was not worth it in the slightest.
Not that the Mater Dei game was any better but at least those two teams had pedigree and gravitas. But ESPN chose this IMG farce?
Mater Dei is a perennial power ranked #1 in some polls facing a Texas power and ESPN shows this farce? Does IMG have a contract with ESPN?
quote:
We are Bishop Sycamore a new football program getting established in Columbus Ohio. We play a national schedule which is ranked 4th in the nation. We have gather young men from all over the country in the pursuit of a similar goal.
What's their mission, to get players killed?
