I'm pretty sure it has to do with the cap holds and rookie contracts placeholder contract values.

Lakers weren’t In The running for either of those guys. Woj told Us a few days ago that they were not in the mix for any of the big name FAs. So they HAD to get davis or they would have nothing.

im still trying to figure out what woj is saying. he is saying the deal will be finalized on the 6th....but that it can still be executed 30 days later. how does that work? how does one finalize a deal but not execute it?
