Woj is reporting that the deal will be completed on July 6th, leaving the Lakers with 24M or 28M in cap space. That blog is reporting what would happen if the trade is completed on July 30th, which would open a 3rd max slot for the Lakers.

All in all, it is a huge gaffe by the Lakers if the trade goes through on the 6th rather than the 30th.

yes but i'm responding to a guy who is saying "delaying" until the 6th opens up that slot, arrogantly

and then he posts a blog that contradicts his position and i assume, is causing him to rage quit the internet b/c he realizes what's going on

you know this may end up being better for LAL

instead of trying to be a 3-man show, they can be LBJ/AD and use that room to get a couple guys

JJ Reddick, come on down (For real though he'd be great for them and keeps flexibility open)

you don't want to blow all that space on kemba. how does kemba and LBJ work?

lakers can offer kemba 4/120
hornets can offer kemba 5/220

Thanks cgrand. That takes Kemba off the board for sure

it may, but i cant get over willingly allowing us to lose 4 miillion dollars in cap space. even if something good comes out of it, it will be by shear luck in the face of total and unprecedented incompetence. just being ok with losing cap space for nothing is a complete fireable offense and pelinka needs to be pushed out if this ends up happening

i want to say that i question how severely the lakers would have pursued kemba with the max, cause i definitely agree, but after this whole thing i should just stop assuming pelinka is going to do things competently

Can they not sign a FA to the max slot before trading for AD on the 6th?

Kuzma's clearly better than Ball, Ingram or Hart.

How did they lose getting rid of two disappointments and a scrappy bench player? Maybe one of those three firsts turns into something but that's far from a guarantee.

no. the only way we can both sign a max free agent and acquire AD is by signing the #4 draft pick ourselves and them trade him to yall. if we were to do that, we would have to wait 30 days after signing the draft pick to trade him. by agreeing to the deal on the 6th, that indicates we arent signing the pick and are simply trading his rights to yall

Hahaha I can see a case for lonzo but don't act like Ingram can't ball out. And they're 21, so they will get better

That's simply false. Picks are assets that can be used. Lakers having a bad year leading to a top 5-10 pick in a deep draft? Pels can trade it for a proven commodity. These picks will occur long after LeBrons prime.
