Dusty Baker will not return as the Washington National manager in 2018, the team announced Friday.

Baker led the Nationals to the postseason in each of his two seasons with the club but couldn't get past the National League Division Series.

The Nationals were 192-132 under Baker.

Dusty Baker has won 90+ games and made the playoffs in five of his last six seasons as a manager. And he's now been fired after two of them.

The enigma of Dusty. Great at what fans dont see (managing clubhouse), terrible at what they do see (game decisions)

Really not a fan of Dusty, but only 2 seasons, won the east both years. Bounced 1st round both times but that's a Nationals tradition. Quick trigger finger by the Nationals FO IMO, but maybe more going on behind the scenes.

I bet they wish Yanks would've lost to Cleve. Girardi would kill it.

They fired him for a national's tradition: losing in the first round.

Nothing will change with the new manager. The nats can't win in the postseason.

Dusty's teams have made the postseason 9 times, but only won 3 series.

He's not the guy to get the Nationals over the playoff hump.

And, despite his well documented flaws as a manager, he will still find a place this winter

Dusty can take a bad team and make it a winning team. He just can’t take that team to the next level.

He must be a helluva locker room coach. His players will run through a wall for him.

The way he used Scherzer in the NLDS completely justifies his firing. How do you take Scherzer out of the game when he was throwing a one hitter and was only at 87 pitches? And then he turns around and has him pitch out of the bullpen on two days rest. Dusty was the biggest reason why the Nationals lost that series.

Whatever this isn't football. He's managed some really talented teams and never been able to accomplish shite except one pennant with SF
