no talk about how that course will eat the ladies up this week? The native area is not match for the Men, but I bet it plays much more difficult for the ladies.

i'd rather thick rough than that sand shite that went into the fairways.

the greens were also completely unforgiving. they had like a 5 foot landing window or else it was over the back or down the front of the green

Tiger would have helped the ratings.

depends how much water they put on the greens. If they are mens speed I say higher than +5, if they water a shite ton between E-+5

is he wrong? I thought the same thing to myself several times over the weekend

It's just "different". The re-design was two part:

1. To showcase the USGA's focus on sustainability and water-conservation.
2. To restore the course to its original landscape.

I get both sides of it...but Trump is just using this as a platform to pimp his courses. One of which hosts a WGC event and was insanely penal.

Doral isn't hosting a US Open, though. So he can get over it.

And if he thinks one of his courses will ever host a major he's fricked in the head. The usga and PGA will always switch back and forth with the older course.

Isn't an upcoming open at Erin Hills?

The redeisgn didn't translate well to the HDTV era. The retro wastelands looked like construction zones on a local munie.

That coupled with the runaway win made for bad television.

Oh well - onto the next major.

Just a counterpoint to this: the USGA should then just play it at Pebble (or Spyglass or Spanish Bay) each year. Or use those courses to focus on those efforts. PB Co. is the best at sustainability and water conservation without having the courses look like Pinehurst did this weekend. And CA is in the middle of one of the worst droughts right now.

Next year is at a relatively new design in Seattle at Chamber's Bay:

Erin Hills is 2017.

I agree with him. Looked like US Open was being played at any BR area BREC park. Those BREC bitches can't keep grass growing in an area that rains year round.

That was pretty much the point. That you can still have a quality design with a center-line irrigation system.

i don't watch much women's golf, but don't they tend to hit it pretty straight, keeping it in the short grass?

the greens will be difficult, but i don't think the ladies miss fairways quite like the men do
