Not really

Plus even if he does win in court, NBA is protected.

In addition, Shelly Sterling and the family’s trust agreed “not to sue the NBA and to indemnify the NBA against lawsuits from others, including from Donald Sterling.”

This whole thing started decades ago but David Stern and the media enabled him because he was part of the good old boys club.

Bonafide POS has managed to become a hero for no other reason than being a POS and receiving the (perfectly legal) repercussions as result of same.

Only on TD.

TD, especially the OT, loves to defend racists and racism.

Big time. I love when it's so obvious and you call them on it, and that poster and everyone else who agrees plays completely dumb.

Hell of a move on her part.

I bet he's regretting not divorcing her for the 20 years they claim they've been "trying" to get divorced.

He should have filed for divorce immediately after he got wind of what she was trying to do...if he really does object to the team being sold.

I don't think you could find a crew so passionately opposed to the notion of a private enterprise exercising its legal right anywhere else on the interwebs, maybe not even the Daily Kos...and to top it off, many of them self-identify as "conservative."

Also seems to be a steep increase in lawyers of late.

His wife, who is now in control of the trust, has agreed to indemnify the NBA. He's fricked on so many grounds

The amusing part, to me, is that many of them are likely "tort reform" advocates/opponents of "frivolous lawsuits."

Don't see why people feel sorry for the creep. He screwed over a lot of people including former coaches, players, etc. Karma's a bitch... Read up on his history.

It's amazing how many people defend him considering the people he screwed in the past. The guy don't give a frick about anyone. He'd laugh at these lil "broke" internet people. He'd think of them as rudy poo trash and look down upon them too because they're not rich.

I enjoy the broad overlap of Sterling defenders and "personal responsibility" advocates.

They defend a guy that drug out cases in court knowing he owed people money and they couldn't afford to keep waiting. He cheated on his wife...slept with hookers, etc. Guy was morally wicked. And people are sticking up for him.

The guy was a jerk, creep, etc. If this guy was an athlete of a certain background and treated people that way/screwed people over they sure as hell wouldn't stick up for him. He'd be called all kinds of names, slurs, etc.

The wickedness is ultimately just the icing though - the fiscal "conservatives" should be sticking up for the business that made a decision in its full legal right as part of the bylaws that Sterling as a franchisee agreed to adhere to.

This scenario is a lot easier to process if Sterling is thought of as a McDonalds franchisee that said really uncalled for and economically damaging shite that directly impacted the McDonalds brand.

I don't know what it is about the NBA being the franchisor that makes this scenario so hard to grasp.

Actually, I do.

There ya go.

ETA: The shite that went on with Sterling in the past... the NBA should have gotten rid of him a loooong time ago. When it came to money, the guy screwed people over on purpose. Now people worry about him losing money. If they were a former player or coach he'd screw them too. Lets not forget about how he treated his tenants that didn't have money to fight him in court. That's another can of worms.
