Pujols just hit number 631 of his career to move into 6th place all time. 69 to go.

He is 38 years old and is the DH most games. He has 3 years remaining on his contract.

His HR per year recently have been:
30 in 2012
17 in 2013
28 in 2014
40 in 2015
31 in 2016
23 in 2017
and 17 so far in 2018.

Let's say he ends up hitting 26 on the season giving him a total of 640.

Pujols would only need to hit 20 a year for the next three years to reach 700.

Barring injury, I think he reaches 700, barely.

He’ll probably hang around long enough just to get the 700 then immediately retire.

Depends on how long the Angels want to continue hurting their team by putting him in the lineup every day

He will prob get around 660. With how fast he has fallen, I can’t even see him starting in 2 years.

Also, it’s going to be a damn shame when he finishes his career with s sub .300 average.

I'm curious to see if he can get to 100 RBIs again. He passed up Ruth & Gehrig last season, to tie AROD for the most, what sucks is I think Pujols also had a 99 RBIs season once.

He looks like a mom power walking around the mall when he runs now.

He has played 149+ games the past 4 years?
I think he could hit 20 a year if the Angels continue to trot him out as the DH.

I would bet against it... just don't see his body holding up long enough to get enough ABs to get there. Plus with Ohtani he's going to have to play 1B several times per week to stay in the lineup.

you mean how most careers end when steroids are not involved (for the sake of this argument, I will assume Pujols played clean his entire career)?

Hank Aaron's last 3 years were at 40, 41, and 42 (he played in 112, 137, and 85 games respectively.

He hit 20, 12, and 10 homers. He batted .268, .234, and .229.

This stuff happens.

**Edit
I was curious about how their careers compared, and the statistical similarities are striking:

Pujols career slash line: .303/.383/.557
Aaron career slash line: .305/.374/.555

Aaron's counting stats are higher across the board but he also played in about 600 more games than Pujols currently has.
