He can do more things than Fournette and doesn't have the injury problems.

Fournette is proving he's a 3 down back in the NFL. He also averaged only 4 fewer yards per kick return as a Barkley is this year, and that was as a true freshman. The only legitimate part of your post is the injury problems, which Barkley will deal with just like every running back does these days.

That said Barkley is a beast and is no more over-hyped than any other midseason heisman favorate.

I just don't think he's what he's being hyped up to be.

You should watch his Rose Bowl performance last year. 195 yards rushing 2TD and 55 yards receiving and 1 TD.

Those stats don't even do it justice, check out his highlights from that game

No, but I am more impressed with a RB that had a 200 rushing yard day than a guy who had 250 all purpose yards but 125 of it was on kick returns. Unless one of them was a TD.

Do you think the rushing is more instrumental in a team winning? Because I think field position is pretty important too.

Yes, because you'll do it more times in a game than a kick return.

I am not impressed with 100 return yards if it was 4 kick returns for 25 each, no.

If it's one 25 and one 75, that's a different story.

His point is, any returner can get 125 yards on 5-6 returns. It's not like if you replaced your star RB that the next guy would get 60 yards on those same 5-6 returns.

3 TDs > 1 TD
Michigan D > Ole Miss D

Nope. Total TDs is all that matters.

I was trying to make myself believe he was overhyped.

One week, I went to check his stats during their game and he had like 20 carries for 60 yards and I knew he was overrated. Then I realized he had 100+ receiving yards and a 99 yard return touchdown. Dude is awesome.

I do. He's really good, but it's almost like people forget some of the great back we've had recently (See Darren McFadden).

I think he is a really good all around player, just like Reggie Bush was, but I wouldn't call him the best RB. What he has done in the return game for PSU is more impressive than what he's done running the ball.

i mean, even Josh Adams is clearly a superior RB

SB is a hybrid guy, probably the best in the country, but there have been several recent guys just as good

So are we just going to act like Fournette was not playing college ball literally last year.

I think Barkley is averaging more than 30 yards per kick return, and the kick return yards only make up a small portion of his total yards.

Coaches put him there because he's the best player they have at that position. I don't see why that can't be factored into his hype.

The fact that he is practically crowned Heisman winner midway through the season and Bryce Love is somehow a distant second is a joke. If Stanford had half the fans Penn St has, he would be the favorite.
