In my opinion, the parity is more a function of bad football than teams being more equal. It takes a couple of seasons for guys to learn and play within a system. Now there is so much roster turnover most teams are almost starting from scratch every year.

I rarely watch CFB now. It’s just bad football every where.

This is why I do not like the NFL or the NBA. I feel like college football is declining in viewers now versus growing.
The amount of “I don’t watch sports” topics on a sports board is intriguing.

People will complain, then tune right back in. Just like the NFL. We enjoy football, we will bitch and moan while we watch. And now there are more teams with a shot at the title, so more fans from different teams are gaining fans from the fairweather pools.

Now, i am losing interest because my school is trash, but that is a different story.

It’s both, but the qb play has certainly been less than inspiring

People say they are leaving but still watch. Capitalism is great, but great when the consumer is informed and is capable of making decisions.

are they same people?

i mean, i think the diehards and big fans are declining, but newer fans are being attracted, and more so people who like betting in this new day and age, since it's morally and legally accepted and so easily accessible

that's my theory anyways, as to why genuine, pure interest is declining, but in terms of overall numbers, people are drawn to it due to gambling and parlays, and the chance to make a quick buck

Weate still "watching" but the diehards don't care as much. I honestly didn't care at all that Bama didn't.ake the playoffs. I just wanted to beat Auburn and LSU. It just doesn't mean as much as it once did, still an ok firm of entertainment on a Saturday, just doesn't have that same feel. The players no longer have that school pride that the fans have and that's the disconnect

Money itself isn’t the problem, it’s how it’s distributed and how it impacts what happens and my thoughts are, the way this has happened as had a negative impact on my perception of the game.

I say perception because college football might actually be more entertaining than it’s ever been, but I’m just not as invested in it because when I watch, I don’t see students who went to my school, or to a rival’s school. I see contractors. Heck, they’re not even that because there are no contracts. They’re hired hands who can walk off the job site whenever they get ready.

I get that doesn’t matter to a lot of people but to me, that was the draw. Guys who enrolled at my (or any) alma mater and worked their way up the depth chart. There used to be a unique collection of stories behind how each roster got recruited and built (if that makes sense) and now it’s one story for all teams…”we paid them”. I still passively watch, but I don’t have that feeling of “I have to watch and follow this” anymore.

Advertisers and networks don’t care if you don’t care as long as you still watch

The portal is gay but this has honestly been a pretty fun season all things considered.

It's become harder to follow individual players as they mature and then enter the pros.
That a college player is in his seventh year is plausible but ridiculous.

Maybe it happened before, but I have seen teams just turn off their team spirit and barely attempt tackles, catches, sacks.

There has to be a "why should I bust my a** to protect a guy with a huge NIL , if he looks good, he's gone.

It’s not very interesting anymore. Watered down and it isn’t college sports anymore.

fans, the bigger concern is teams leaving because the landscape doesn't allow them to compete fairly

Yes, this is the first year since 07 that this many teams are live for the title, imo.

Georgia is the favorite at +385. Michigan was +160 last year. It’s not totally equitable due to the change in format, but the point remains

Meh, it’s still early. If this lawlessness continues, a lot of fanbases are going to dwindle. Especially in the south where the college football lifeline exists. I feel like people in general are getting pretty tired of sports as a whole and how money driven/greedy it is now. You see these players continuing to get massive deals while the common fan struggles with inflation, etc. and wondering where the money is coming from. It’ll all correct soon enough. Plus the game day experience is as poor as ever with the high concession prices and length of games due to tv timeouts etc. it’s all bound to pop.

In a weird way, I think it might be.

You have so much roster churn year over year now that there’s likely less cohesion in the locker room and on the field.

I have a feeling that we’re not going to see any of the “traditional dynasties” anymore (for better or worse) because you can’t maintain that kind of a culture when a minimum of a third of your guys leave in January. A handful of programs “just knowing how to win” might be a thing of the past.

They had their best year in ratings in quite some time, so they're sticking around for now
