And not just a lawyer, but a name partner at a 100+ lawyer firm?

LINK

Here's a response to a fan emailing him wishing he would come back soon: LINK Pretty funny stuff.

Why in the world would he put up with the stress and bullshite that comes with being an NFL referee? That's a weird hobby.

Thought part of the disagreement is that the NFL wants them to be full-time refs, and the refs are saying that's not gonna happen.

the hawk is my favorite ref. he butchered a game pretty bad once- cutler/denver/SD?- but he own it immediately, and knew exactly which rule kept him from fixing it. i always like seeing him officiate my texans games

Yes hence the problem. NFL wants full time ref's, but not going to make up the difference in what most of these guys make in a year.

Back this summer there was a guest on The Fan in Dallas that basically said the NFL wanted ref's to be making a certain amount of income, outside of football. Bascially people who wouldn't be tempted by money to fix games, etc. So it's no surprise they don't want to quit their day job and make less money.

Yeah, I think most of the real refs are lawyers who make 150k+ in their real jobs. And that income is part of the qualifications to be a ref.

My friend works there its kinda funny he talks to the guy everyday (he doesnt follow football just surfs) and had no idea that he was an NFL Ref.

Guy is really cool and his daughter is hot

I've heard this all my life. I haven't heard anyone mention it lately other than your post.

1. Refs want a pension, but they are not full-time employees.
2. NFL wants some (not all) to be full-time, but most of them have legit jobs outside their Sunday job.

They also want to be able to fine/suspend refs for bad games/calls

Which is ironic that they want to force some type of responsibilty on the real refs but wont even do the same for the replacement lingerie refs that is destroying the integrity of the league and if i had to guess are doing some serious Gambling scandels (they atleast could given the leagues apparent terrible background checks)

Yes, I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that most of the refs are lawyers.

He seems like a cool guy, I've always been a fan of his (probably like him because I've never been on the receiving end of one of his calls). That was really cool of him to send back such a nice email.
