Enough, Kirk Herbstreit: America has been very kind to Herbstreit as he's turned his dogs into ESPN celebrities. But opening a pop-up store this weekend in Baton Rouge to sell merchandise with the image of his golden retriever, Peter, is the kind of self-indulgence that needs to be addressed. Herbie, with all due respect, it's gone too far and we're now at the point where people are unafraid to call it out. Dogs are wonderful creatures, and it is terrific that you find comfort in their companionship. But your relationship with them is not unique or special. A lot of people have dogs, a lot of people love dogs, and a lot of people need dogs for physical and emotional support. Pushing it to the point where you're selling dog merch and shoving it down everyone's throat at every opportunity is, frankly, a little weird.

Always makes me wonder if people are just broke although they seem like they have it all.

He’s a slave if he has to start a business to sell shite.

I'm guessing the money goes to dog rescue or something, which is how he'll justify it.

I am fine with the dogs on Gameday. I am not cool with a dog in the booth of one of the premier games of the week.

That would be the most embarrassing thing from yesterday, if not for Michigan being Michigan.

OU planted a flag on the Buckeye "O" logo once. I wonder if Western Michigan would send us a flag for Saturday. That would be the greatest meme of all-time.

People bitch about the most minor things. I don’t care what he does or how people spend their money. If people get joy out of it, good for them. It’s kind of like if you like McDonald’s and go buy it then good for you. I can tell LSU had a good game when this is the biggest complaint about Herbstreit from yesterday. I love it.

It was kind of wholesome when it was his old fat dying dog in the booth with him. But now it’s cringefest and weird that he’s forcing his new young replacement dog down everyone’s throat.

Maybe he is raising money for BLM. We know how sensitive he is.

I remember people ripping a prior poster here who brought it up, but it's true. The dog stuff has gone way too far. Like you said, Herbstreit is not unique in having a loving relationship with a dog.

Honestly, his wife has to feel like he loves the dog more than her.

The dog is fine on Gameday. Heck he wants to have the dog with him when calling games, that's fine. But the dog should not make any appearance during game broadcasts.

Saban has a lot of investments but was in every other commercial yesterday. I was like why? Nobody can love Aflac and Home Depot that much.

He’s a DB. I was at Ruffino’s Friday night and he had his dog with him. It’s a relatively nice restaurant and not one other customer had their freaking dog with them.

I don’t know when it happened, but Kirk nowadays has what I call Scientology-face. He has this weird, creepy expression (smile) on his face and just a strange look in his eye.

Isn't he in the Home Depot ad with Saban? I wonder if his salary there is a fraction of Saban's . Could he be hoping to take Saban's ad niche when Saban quits or croaks? (Nick will celebrate his 75th birthday this October.)

I doubt ESPN cares about what you aren’t cool with.
