Michael Jordan made a lot more money through his deal with Nike than during his playing career. Jordan was never paid more than $3 million per year until 1996 but he made so much money off his Nike deal that he was still able to be part-owner of a NBA team. Also Shaq once said that he never spent a dime of his yearly salary. He made so much money off endorsements that he didn't need to do so.

*Pulled out of azz but OTer's get then message.

**Shoe monopolies.....er.. manufacturers cant afford to sell shoes at a rate the populous can afford because of "marketing expenses"

two things: first....still not going out to buy a pair of Adidas shoes
second...I have banner adsfrom "lemonfree.com" on top/side of this page showing a Bugatti Veyron used for 1,400,000 and a Maybach Landaulet 625 Twin turbo for 1,200,000...not sure why they are showing me these cars, but I guess Derrick can now afford to have a Bugatti, and a Maybach...just for wearing shoes that I'll never buy.

Don't know why they'd give that much money to a guy with little to no marketablity.

Bron, wade, Kobe, Dwight, etc have the wit and charisma to increase their brand thus increase the value of the products they endorse. Would you want to see d rose in a McDonalds commercial?

I dont see his cross over appeal. Seems like Adidas is stretch/scared to lose everyone to Jordan/Nike

This. Kids in the hood aren't checking for adidas anymore. Not this generation.

lol Derrick Rose can barely speak a complete sentence. Even in the commercials they have for him now they don't even let him talk its just him dribbling a basketball.

I agree with this for the most part, although kobe's commercials tend to suck for some reason, he never says anything..

Also I already wear adidas so.. I guess I'm going to be looked at as a Rose fan now?

ha, this was so interesting I had to look it up.

it's 200M if you think the M just stands for millions.

If you think it stands for the roman numeral M (1000), then MM could be a thousand 1000s, which would be 1 million.

But in reality MM just means 2000 in roman numerals.

"the more you know...."

They've embraced the witty a-hole in him in his recent Nike ATTACK commercials. People love those.

It'd be more plausible for adidas to give DW12 $200M
