BTW, I don't agree with the OP's claim that Durant is better than LeBron, but the gap is narrow.
Dwight needs to run away with the MVP though. Without him, the Magic would be Charlotte bad. Okay maybe not that bad, but at least Hornets bad.

Wilt also played against a bunch of 6'5 guys. Wilt would be an average big in todays game.
Wilt also didn't have the advanced training regimens, nutritional advantages, and the depth of coaching that players have today.
If you are going to penalize Wilt for being a freak athlete, then you have to do the same for LeBron.
As for your claim that Wilt would be an average big in today's game, that's just horribly stupid.

I'd say they are the clear favorite.
That's Chicago to me. They have the best starting 5 in the NBA and a damn good bench. They go 8-9 deep. Either way, being the favorite doesn't make you an automatic to win either. They were favored to win against the Mavericks last year and they lost. Hell the Mavericks weren't suppose to make it past the second round and they won the whole damn thing.

I don't believe Wilt shot over 53% in any of his first few seasons in which he averaged an insane amount of points per game. Considering the fact that post defense was pretty much nonexistent in this era of basketball, that should literally be impossible.
Umm do you know your history? Wilt was averaging 50% from the field when anything over 45% was considered amazing. Hell only one TEAM averaged over 45% from the field that year. A third of the league does that nowadays. Shooting 50% in the 50s and 60s is like shooting 60-65% in today's game, but while playing over 40 minutes a game.
The pace of the game was far faster than it is today. Those guys hardly ever came out of games. Hell the year he averaged over 50 points a game, he also average 48.5 minutes a game.

You are a fricking moron.
Lol you are the fricking idiot. He choked like Bush on pretzel in those Finals. He put up by far the worst performance in Finals history by a star player in the series against the Spurs. BY FAR!

First year with the Heat.
And? The Celtics won a title in their first year together. Is this really your excuse?

Dallas' core has been together forever.
LOL you are outright stupid for saying/believing this.

Lebron has played triple the playoff games Durant has.
He's been in the league longer and has played in the clearly weaker conference. Hell this year is the first season since 97-98 that the East has an argument for being on or near on par with the West.

You mean like how he was suppose to win one last year? What's the excuse for that? I'm sure it was Wade or Bosh's fault right?

Please enlighten me on who is had a better season since Jordan.
Since Jordan retired after 1998:
Shaq from the 98-99 until the 03-04 seasons.
Kobe in 05-06 and 06-07.
Duncan in 02-03, 03-04, and maybe in 06-07.
Garnett from 00-01 until 05-06.
And before you pull stats out of your arse, there is more to a player's seasons than just their box scores. Shaq was the most dominant player in the league for a 6-7 year period. Kobe put a team full of end of rotation guys on his back and took them to the playoffs in the powerhouse West. Duncan speaks for himself. Garnett was the best big man in the league for a stretch not named Shaq and really was the best all-around defender and best rebounder in the league for a 5 year stretch.
LeBron will cool off and the idiots who were saying he was having the best season ever will look like just that.

They have different skill sets (Durant is more skilled) and different levels of athleticism (LeBron is the best athlete in basketball). LeBron also gets calls that no other basketball player gets.

EFG is crap. LeBron's real field goal percentage is 41.3% and I got that from basketball-reference.
re: THIS YEAR...Durant > LeBron
Posted by Dwight K Schrute on 3/1/12 at 10:03 pm to TulaneTigerFan
Durant is the superior shooter and has spread his production out all over the court. LeBron has taken a third of his field goal attempts from 3 feet and within and half of all of his made field goals come from within 3 feet of the rim. From 16 feet to the 3 point line, Durant is hitting 51.3% of his shots. LeBron is hitting only 38.3% of his shots from the same range. LeBron is hitting 41.3% of his jump shots while Durant is hitting 44.3%.
Lebron's assist numbers are always going to be higher than Durant's because LeBron is the primary ball distributor on his team while Westbrook is the primary ball distributor on Durant's.

The Rose Bowl is an old shithole. It's been a shithole for the past 30-40 years too. Just because something has a lot of history and tradition doesn't mean it's a great stadium. A toilet that Tom Cruise has shite in is still a damn toilet.

Enlighten me. What more goes into a great stadium other than having the latest and greatest technology, comfy + spacious seating, and convenient amenities for fans? I couldn't careless about the tradition of a building or what has occurred in it in the past when I am talking about the quality of the actual stadium.

How do you feel about Bill Walton being in the Hall? Ticks me off that he was never an elite NBA player and is in, but Grant Hill has little to chance of making it even though he's been a damn effective player into his late 30s.

Gorgeous stadium. I applied for a job with their ticket office just for the hell of it and I forgot where they said they were operating out of, but this was almost 2 years ago.
Outside of that abortion in center field, that is one of the best sports stadiums in the US.

Neither Swann nor Namath should be in the HOF but they are in because of where they played and because the media loved them.
I hate when writers get to vote on who joins Hall of Fame. Few if any of them ever played the sport that they write about outside of the youth level and they almost always have some sort of agenda or axe to grind.

I doubt Dallas makes a play for him unless he hits free agency in the future and they miss out on not only Deron Williams, but Nash as well. Although, Dallas won't sign Nash to anything more then a 2 or 3 year deal.
Dallas won't be picking up Nash. If they don't get Deron, they'll either just use what they already have or make a trade for someone, but Nash isn't coming back to Dallas as a free agent signing.

Nope. He had a good little run for a while when he was a top 10 guy, but he has never been the top guy, a top 3 guy, and you'd be hard pressed to find a year when you can definitively say that he was a top 5 guy.

Lol you can't possibly be this stupid. You are vehemently defending LeBron against any statements that aren't positive. My only stance in this thread have been declaring my neutrality and pointing out the absurdity of those - like you - who can't understand how pathetic it is for them to willingly devote themselves to LeBron's cult of personality. It's pathetic. You know it, but you can't just admit it because then you'd be admitting how pathetic of a being you are. What's even more disturbing is these appear to be the only threads you show your head in as well. Can't be bothered to talk about sports because you have to defend LeBron against the evil non-believers!
You go be the best e-knight you can be!

No, it doesn't.
Are you stupid or willfully ignorant?
To channel Dave Berri: Hollinger argues that each two point field goal made is worth about 1.65 points. A three point field goal made is worth 2.65 points. A missed field goal, though, costs a team 0.72 points. Given these values, with a bit of math we can show that a player will break even on his two point field goal attempts if he hits on 30.4% of these shots. On three pointers the break-even point is 21.4%. If a player exceeds these thresholds, and virtually every NBA player does so with respect to two-point shots, the more he shoots the higher his value in PERs. So a player can be an inefficient scorer and simply inflate his value by taking a large number of shots
That's the facts proven by stats. If you are any indication of the average graduate of Tulane, then that institution's academic prestige is severely overrated.
