Somehow Emmit Smith has become underrated....the all time leading rusher, lol.

When he held out the first two games of the 93 season in a contract dispute Dallas lost both games. Haley put his helmet through the wall and hollered about they needed Emmit back. Jerry capitulated and Emmit returned to win the rushing title, league MVP and Super Bowl MVP.

That was the year he suffered a shoulder separation in the last regular season game against the Giants and played through the pain and carried Dallas to a win.

Well sports "historians" love love love those old Cowboy offensive lines so Emmitt gets retroactively docked and he led the League only 1 time in 15 years in Yards per attempt and stunk his last two years away from Dallas.

His career YPA is Thurman Thomas territory.

When a team is full of greats, people find ways to quibble.

Players who are the entire show on a team, OJ/Payton in the 70s, Sanders in the 90s...they get elevated in the public eye.

Emmett Smith is probably a little underrated because of how good the cowboys were . . . and Thurman Thomas is probably underrated because the bills went 0-4 in the Super Bowl.

Thurmon Thomas led the league in yards from scrimmage 4 straight years. In 3 of those the bills went to the Super Bowl. He was the dominant offensive player on the league.

I’m not sure of any other RB that has led the league in yards from scrimmage 4 straight years. For reference, Barry Sanders, Adrian Peterson and Marshall Faulk each did it twice in their careers.

Curtis Martin and Edgerin James don’t belong in that category

Henry will be celebrated much more once he retires

He has been a proven work horse for years and he can do that another year or two he will go down as top 10-15 imo

10 consecutive 1,000 yard seasons.

Henry has had 7 total.

Curtis Martin is very underrated.

Henry has a similar 4 year span and also played more than those 4 years.
DH won 2 Super Bowls, an MVP, a Super Bowl MVP, and had 3 straight 1st Team All-Pro seasons?

I must’ve missed that.

The best since the 90s(Davis Sanders Faulk)

He's the bigger badder not fumbling version of Peterson/Dickerson

Comparing eras is difficult.

When Jim Brown played, 300 yards passing was rare. Now that is expected.

Henry is great.

Barry Sanders was the most fun for me to watch.

I will blame that on the AP. They changed the voting to where there is only 1 slot for RB. Gave the other slot to the "all-purpose" position, because RBs were seemingly going away before their recent resurgance. Henry's best years have coincided with some other guy's slightly better year. 2024 for example, he would have been AP1 in any normal year, but Saquon had a crazy season.

You can’t call someone a bruiser workhorse with his big play ability.

Yes you can. It’s what makes him so special. He’s a bruising, workhorse of a running back that can also take it 80 yards to the house.

He’s #9 on your list in my opinion.

Had Henry not broken his foot a third of the way through the 2021 season, he would be on his eighth consecutive 1,000+ yard season. As it stands, he only played in eight games in 2021 but still managed to rush for 937 yards.

That guy was limiting him to just a bruiser.
