I still don't understand why he cut that ball and shoveled it? It would've one hopped straight to the catcher a lot faster.

You serious Clark? That ball wasn't anywhere close to one-hopping even close to the plate

I watched that entire interview and everything looked fine.

As usual Jeter hates talking so Arod helped him keep the convo following.

I don't get the Jeter bj fest. I mean he was good borderline great but people act like he was a legend.

Look, I never cared for the guy or the Yankees but your post is just ignorant.

Jeter was a great player but I'm curious how he would be viewed had he played his entire career for the Brewers or Padres or any other small market team.

LeBatard is pretty darn respected as a journalist, and his track record is about as good as anyone's

Uhhhhhh, not so much.

Jeter has always been a bitch about this.

It didn't start with Jeter. A-Rod is the one who messed up that so-called friendship, and he did it long before he joined the Yankees. He made disparaging remarks about Jeter at least twice.

A-Rod was jealous of Jeter. Especially the fact that Jeter and the NYY were winning World Series while A-Rod wasn't winning anything with Seattle or Texas.

I feel like it was likely due to the fact that the two were considered the same level of player even though ARod was clearly better...not excusing ARod taking shots at Jeter, it's not his fault people thought that way.

He thought Orgeron was Ole Miss coach still

Statistically Arod was the better player in almost every category. In real life, he was an a-hole who alienated everyone around him because he didn't understand basic human interaction. Also, Jeters last gold glove is my go to argument on why they don't mean shite.

No it isnt. Just like he said, Jeter was good, borderline very good. His defense was average, and he was a non-power hitting middle infielder.

As a Red Sox fan who spent a lot of time hating the man, I would say Jeter was a great player. The Gold Gloves were mostly a farce, but he was a very good hitter for a shortstop.

He has the 8th most fWAR at his position all time. He has the 10th best wRC+ for his position all time for players with 500 games or more. I would say that constitutes a great player. Is he as good as the media or casual baseball fans think? No, probably not. Doesn't mean he wasn't great.

There was never a time when Jeter played, where I would have taken him as my shortstop. I feel like a great, all-time player, should have multiple years where I definitively say I am taking that guy to be my starter

I think he is still a hall of famer, just not an all-timer which is how he is portrayed

It's basically equivalent to people saying Madison Bumgarner is a better pitcher than Clayton Kershaw because Bumgarner's had more success in the postseason.

Yep. ARod was hands down more talented than Jeter, who could be the most overrated MLB player ever.

Pssstt, he had an entire career outside of radio before he went into radio.

He was widely regarded as a top 5 sports journalist for years. Maybe you just didn't know that. His writing and journalism is held in very high regard by most, and it's mutually exclusive to his wacky, zany radio show.

What does knowing about sports have to do with being connected to all things Miami to break this tidbit of info?

He could be all knowing on sports or know nothing about sports, and it doesn't change his credibility for what LeBatard said in the OP.

Maybe you dont know that he admits he stopped following sports, and stopped caring, and only tries to have fun now.

Dan doesnt really know shite now. Like I said, he still thought Orgreon was the Ole Miss coach. He never really knows much about shite when they talk actual sports on his show.
