Personnel is an aspect that we know is going to be a strength. Young players want to emulate Deion Sanders, pattern their game after his to the extent they can. And Deion knows what he's doing in terms of evaluation.
There are players all over that will jump at the opportunity to be part of the program they're building.

Does he? What proof do you have of this? And players wanting to emulate his game doesn't really mean shite.

But can he develop them and manage team chemistry?

All of what you are claiming is an unknown at this point. It just is. Sure, HE is claiming it, but there is really no track record to go off. Just a bunch of talking. Which he has done plenty of. Has nothing to do with Deion hate, it's just the facts.

I wonder if he makes people refer to him as "Coach Prime".

Those years spent as an analyst. That's proof enough for me. Deion has an eye for specific athletic attributes and abilities. I saw it for years on NFL Network in combine coverage, the way he'd break down games, etc.
Some people have a good eye for it, some don't. Les Miles, for example, did not.

Yeah, the fact that many kids hold him in high regard means a lot. It means more high-level athletes are going to want to be part the program. Who else is getting an athlete like Travis Hunter to go to JSU? He's an idol to many kids. That's going to play a major role in recruiting. It's obvious.

There are a lot of unknowns because building a program this way in this era of college football is unprecedented. How it all comes together, we'll see. But he's going to upgrade that roster in terms of talent and athleticism. If someone is worried about guys transferring out, they don't understand that Deion is unique in how he's going to be able to recruit guys to Colorado.

Travis Hunter went to JSU because that’s where he belongs. He will never play a major role at CU because he’s TINY. He will get lost in the shuffle. Great HS player, will never be heard from again other than the odd kickoff return or screen pass. He’s a poor man’s Tyson Browning

And it’s still Colorado. They’re going to get too much press compared to whom they actually are

This might be the most retarded take in a thread loaded of them

High score

Hunter could've gone anywhere he wanted. He's a rare athlete that can play offense and defense. He went to JSU because of Deion.

That's an absurdly horrible comparison. You don't even have the positions right for a comparison. Nothing against Tyson Browning. He was a good role player. I remember him mostly for the TD pass vs. LSU in 2003. But that's a very inapt comparison. Actually, if you want to do a comparison from Georgia, it's Champ Bailey, in terms of ceiling and raw ability, and athleticism to play offense and defense.

Tyson Browning was a good role player. That’s Hunters ceiling. The position isn’t the issue it’s that they both are/were talented players who are/were way too small to make a real impact.

And the absurd comparison is comparing a 155lb soaking wet college sophomore who has a Celebration Bowl loss as the biggest football game of his life to an NFL Hall of Famer.

Same height weight and position as the 2020 Heisman Trophy winner who despite not packing on pounds since college just had a tremendous year for the NFC champions

Yikes dude

Literally the worst take I've read on this board. Travis Hunter is a top 5 NFL pick in *this* draft if he could come out right now.

Shake my head when I hear dumb comments like this. And people say it about a lot of coaches, not just Deion. So you want him to be successful and then just stick around at some stepping stool school. How long was Nick Saban at Toledo, the Browns, Mich St, LSU, the Dolphins? He never stayed anywhere more than 4 years, until he did.

Deion is looking for a quick fix but you can't solve everything thru the portal that first season

It's not like you are raiding Bama and UGA for five star starters from the portal in one year

You have to balance recruiting with the portal and retaining players that first year would have made it easier on him

I think this first season is going to be a nightmare for Colorado

Now, over time, when you can start recruiting he should be fine

I think his bloodlust for turnover makes the opposite clear. If he wanted a quick win of potentially bowling this year he’d keep more bodies. He knows he has bought himself time and wants the bandaid ripped off with all of his guys getting the snaps. It won’t be linear trajectory but if they appropriately develop there’s no reason they won’t be in Pac12/Big12 contention for year 3/4

As an 8 year Buff season ticket holder and 35 year friend of the program, I agree he will fail bigly. It’s a bad fit. Problem is, pretty much anyone competent is a bad fit as well. Football is a bad fit for Boulder . Reality is a bad fit for Boulder. Let me say also , I’ll be pulling hard for the Buffs in every game except if they somehow ever played LSU. And hope I am proven wrong early and often. Go Buffs.

I think the truth is in the middle.

He’s lost way more than just kids he didn’t want. Some players he was counting on have jumped ship. But everyone repeating the ‘16 scholarship players’ is off also. He’s got 27 or so transfers coming in. And another 20 or signees. So they have 63 scholarship players and he’ll add more.

But they are going to struggle big time next year. They will be young and dysfunctional.
