It’s called human error. I see it daily with my job. Which is why it’s crazy the level of hunan element the nfl accepts with middle aged to old part time refs

You could put one sensor in a soccer ball directly in the middle, and extrapolate our from there since it's a sphere. Footballs are oblong creating some more issues.

Also there are designated areas where these calls are made to in soccer (goal line) and the kick sensing technology for offside is streamlined since one person is likely kicking the ball with one foot. Football has way more potential things going on than that and it's all over the field (goal line being an outlier).

I'm all for sensors and AI, can't wait for it. And baseball is dumb for not doing it, but that's a union dispute and people resistant to change.

At least baseball has full time employee umpires

Because I am an old-school fan who understands that s**t happens and mistakes are made and when it happens you don’t obsess about it for years, you move on.

The problem is that there’s such a spotlight on this stuff now and there is so much money in this stuff now and there is so much money being gambled on this sport now and there are so many “experts” out there watching in their dens on their gargantuan-sized TV screens in high def where you can see the boogers in the players’ noses through their face masks who run to places like this to bitch to where s**t cannot be allowed to happen.

Don Denkinger is still a curse word in St. Louis after 40 years “because he cost them the World Series” with a horrible call at first base that I will concede should have been overturned by today’s replay rules. But they don’t stop to think that the runner who was called safe at first was retired on the bases without scoring, and all the Cardinals had to do is settle down and get three other outs. But they absolutely disintegrated in the rest of that inning in a way that rivaled the Yankees last October, which is not surprising given that they had played like arse that entire Series even though they were up 3-1 at one point.

Plus everyone is taking for granted that the Bills would have scored if they’d gotten that first down and that KC … the superior team IMO, they will whip the Eagles … would not have scored however many points it needed to win.

Honestly? Sometimes I don’t. I know it’s stupid and I could get a ticket and I always do on divided highways or interstates, but sometimes I don’t if I’m just running to the grocery store down the street.

I think he got it, to be fair. And I also think they got completely shafted on the third down spot the play before.

However, Allen is terrible at that play. He not only wastes time by taking a step AWAY from the line to go over the left guard, but he stands straight up to do it.

You have to essentially put your head in the center’s arse and drive forward. Yes I know how that sounds.

And if you’re going to run that play you need to make sure you leave no doubt and that you don’t put it in the officials’ hands. They had the same kind of play at the end of the 1965 Orange Bowl, Alabama vs. Texas, before they had replay and message boards. Alabama had the ball fourth and goal inside the one on the final play and Joe Namath kept it trying for a game-winning touchdown but was stopped by Tommy Nobis, and about as many people bitched that he scored as are bitching that Buffalo got the first down, but Coach Bryant never griped about it, just said in that situation you don’t need to leave doubt.

Kincaid is glad people are focused on the spot, might have been a rough day for him today otherwise

I just checked The Buffalo News’ website. There’s barely any mention of this play, just that the coach thought they’d made it and one offensive lineman said KC was in a good set against them on defense and that the Bills needed to execute better. You’d think if it was the defining moment in the game, you’d have a bunch of sidebar stories on it.

Also, no media actually AT the game, as compared to people watching from home, thought enough about it to request to discuss the call with the officials afterward.

It sure looks like the only people foaming at the mouth about this are fans and self-proclaimed pundits on social media.

And a Saints fan pretending to be a Bills "fan" on a message board.

Yeah there’s basically zero discussion about this play. At this point it’s just Pride trying to get someone to tell him he’s right. That’s all he really cares about

As a saints fan these types of spots happen all the time. The team you want to win is always the one people side with. It’s called controversy and the league loves this shite.

Everyone is still talking about it and will be for the two weeks leading up to the game.

Perfect win, win for everyone involved

OP, you can argue this until you're blue in the face and it's not going to change a thing.

The Chiefs still won and are going to the Super Bowl and the Bills go back to Buffalo and say "Wait till next year".

IT would be kinda difficult for them not to considering a 162 game season, no?

You think NFL officials work three hours every Sunday and just call it a week?

not sure how much the NFL actually has but each team has a value of over 5 billion dollars, they have the money to reduce human error.

have a way a computer marks the first-down/goal-line and can tell if the ball crosses the first-down/goal-line. While live you still need to count on refs, having computer assisted spot on review should be implemented.

as others have said in soccer you can tell if a toe is offside by computer, why can't football have similar tech?
