Sure there are going to seem like pieces getting tied together over the next day or so...that's because there are a lot of people working damage control trying to sew this stuff up at the seams.

I'm having a hard time believing that he didn't know anything as well. But, my theory about him being a closet homosexual is slowly going out the window.

Yes. There is an allegation that Tuiasosopo was going to use Te'o to set up fake charity and embezzle.

That would be the only reason I could see NCAA getting involved. I highly doubt that is the case though, that's why they will stay out

Jimithing was right, though. I think he cooked this shite up, or at least played it to the max, to get attention because he's crazy. When he saw that it got attention and that the media focus improved his likelihood of winning awards and becoming more famous, it was like putting gas on a fire. Ultimately, he realized that the heightened awareness would increase his draft stock, too, so he ran with it. The train just got going so fast that he couldn't slow it down before it ran off the rails.
