Those tweets from before the story broke seem to fit with that. They seemed to indicate that one of them was friends with the fake girl and then discovered that it was tuiasosopo several years ago. Then he heard about Manti's girlfriend dying and realized that it was the same name.

I think I'm officially done with the Manti portion of this story. He lied and I don't care why. Now I just want to know whether ND backed him while knowing he was a liar or if they reallyare the dumbest people in the room.

Man, uncle wraps it up with calling Ronaia out for like the 4th time and sounds like he's ready to go on the war path polynesian style - makes it clear that there's no problem with the Tuisopo family but ol' Ronaia better stay in hiding.
I still am 95% on the side that Manti is gay and was in on it with Ronaia from the beginning or close to it but the uncle painted a picture that was far more believable than ND's presser or Manti's press release.

They helped out a guy who was raising money in the fake girl's name to donate to a cancer charity and published an interview with him on their athletic department's Youtube channel. This was just a couple of days after the BCSNCG. 2 weeks after they allegedly found out about the hoax.
