TBH, him being gay is the first thing I thought of while reading the article but it seems less and less likely

I feel like if you're convinced that he was in on it from day one, he has to be gay. And if you're convinced that he is gay, he has to have been in on it from day one. Why the frick come up with this elaborate plot for no fricking reason (remember it started years before any talk of ND return to relevance and Heisman hopes).


What kind of person comes up with this type of scheme solely for the purpose that it might come in handy (publicity/fame) years down the line?

Assuming Te'o was NOT in on it from the beginning, found out it was a hoax, why did he go along with it? This makes even less sense than him being gay and concocting this story from the start.

This leads me to believe he was in on it long before she "died". No way he drops this line without knowing that there is no actual family to call him out on it.
