This Rick guy said that Te'o partied at BYU on his last visit... and subsequently BYU parted ways. It does makes sense bc he sites "why would a Mormon go to Catholic school over BYU"?
He said that Te'o stated he visited Lennay twice in Hawaii on radio shows.

I could actually see this as well. The "publicity" angle (at least that it started out that way) just seems completely dumb. It's either he's gay or he really was duped (with some obvious exaggerations/lies in the story, along the way).
How's this for a theory: Te'o made her up for the reason people are speculating. He had one or more sympathetic friends within the athletic department who were surprised to hear about a girlfriend, and were in on the fact she was a beard. Along about the MSU game, ND is looking like a solid contender, and Te'o himself is looking good. The insider sees an opportunity, takes the fake girl and runs with it, hard, to pump up the publicity machine. And then Te'o is riding a tiger and can't let go. And now that it's all blown up, it's Noter Damn that's holding on for dear life.

South Bend has issued their statement and I think thats going to be it. As bad as that press conf came off to some people, it was the right thing for them to do to try and save face. They HAD to say something. Now Teo can sit back and formulate a story based on what else unfolds.

The way this guy took off on this whole "human interest" angle, to become a damn Heisman runner up is freaking pathetic.
I can sort of agree that ability-wise, we have had players like over the past 10 years.
But he had an outstanding year regardless - he had 7 interceptions. I think all of our linebackers combined had 2. I think the turnovers are what made it a special year for him along with being on an undefeated team on one of the top defenses - until they met the SEC...
