I definitely think he lied out of embarrassment at some point. But anyone who thinks he made the whole thing up is just a fool who hates ND and wants to laugh at them. Because there isn't a shred of evidence to think he made it ALL up.

What? This has nothing to do with Notre Dame. And I would argue the opposite. Only someone who knights for all things Notre Dame could possibly think Te'o was not complicit in this hoax.

The way he kept repeating those words after the Mich. State game leads me to think that Notre Dame is full of rapists, murderers, and straight up thieves. Or maybe the fact Brian Kelly killed a kid, there were alleged rapists on the team, and that Te'o is a liar who used this story to mount an awards campaign leads me to think this. You Yankees are fricking sick, dude.

I think he made it up for publicity in mid September, not thinking it would become national news all year like it did and constantly being asked about it and then he couldn't remember all the details he lied about so had to keep lying.

What probably happened was the fake girlfriend started friending Manti's friends, commenting on their photos, etc., Manti got caught and chose to perpetuate the lie rather than come clean.
