I was at the longest WS game ever he ended w the White Sox, freezing my arse off b/c Mr Selig's decree of an unfair advantage.
He decreed it was unfair because they were playing the White Sox, who are owned by Selig's good buddy, Jerry Reinsdorf. Those two were/are as thick as thieves, which is a good description for Selig. Thank God he's out of baseball.

quote:
There is a very real ethical component to covering and being a fan of Major League Baseball, despite the common plea to separate sports from politics. The Astros and Cubs aren’t the only ones exploiting their players; the Angels, for example, made some odd personnel choices earlier this season that happened to allow them to avoid paying some players incentive bonuses. Every front office, in one way or another, games the system because the system is set up to benefit ownership first and players second. And if the likes of Jose Altuve and Carlos Correa can be taken advantage of so freely and openly, what hope does anyone else have?
quote:
Praising the Astros for being smart and savvy will only create more incentive for other front offices to mimic these unethical behaviors. The whole theme of the World Series shouldn’t be about smart, analytically-inclined teams reaching the summit; it should in part be about teams getting ahead with a multitude of exploitative practices against their players.
This fricking guy.

Screw that guy writing that article on the brink of the World Series. I guess he favors teams like the Yankees buying up the top talent to completely dilute any chance for parity. That's much more "ethical".

I think Houston flat out has the better team. And I fully expect Kershaw to get lit up

You think Bobby Bonilla is complaining?

I don’t know if this image link will work, but did anyone happen to see the postgame celebration pic of McCullers flashing the thumbs down signal to the camera?
If it doesn’t work I’ll post the link to the pic.

Cliched division in the Sunday Alts
Clinched divisional series in road Greys
Clinched League in Home Whites
Need to bust out the Tequila sunrise for game 4

Well, that was interesting. I'm thinking that article was actually written by Tim McCarver. It sounds like him in every way. There are enough facts there so that it can be loosely referred to as journalism.
But when an article starts using Twitter as a primary source for supporting an argument, the author loses all credibility.
You'd think he would get or use at least one quote from one of these mistreated players to support his claims that the Astros organization is the modern day cotton plantation.

This is a perfect opportunity to point out that I was hypercritical of McCullers and his recurring sore arm issues, even to the point of questioning his manhood.
He stepped up in a big way.
With that said, I feel like his future should be in the pen. With his arm and back putting him on the DL and restricting his innings pitched, it just makes too much sense.
And throw on top of that the fact that he is most effective when he throws 30 straight curveballs.

So let’s talk WS roster.
Do we possibly carry White and leave Gregerson off so we have extra pinch hitter? Still have to carry 3 catchers so Gattis can DH against the lefties
ETA: any Indians or Royals fans lurking- did y’all have a different roster from the ALCS?

Stros would have won in 6 if he kept Lance in like I said. Proved it last night. Small glimmer of hope that Hinch learned from that mistake
