From Gammons. That is painfully expensive

It isn't outlandish though. Not saying we should do it but that's not an easy decision. I don't think Ludlow will though

I like Odorizzi or Danny Duffy

If you replaced Martes with Paulino what would y'all think? Part of the problem with that deal is Martes/Paulino and Musgrove will both contribute next season in the rotation. I think if you replaced Martes with Paulino I would do it though

Giving up the top 2 prospects on your farm and a kid that had a solid rookie campaign?

Yikes.

It would be such a tough call on that deal. 3 guys that could be huge pieces for us but Quintana would definitely be a huge piece for us for 4 years.

And his deal is so team friendly... 7m next year, 8m, 10.5, and 11m... So they could easily add other FA without breaking the bank.

see the Stros get Archer or even Odorizzi. Adding them with a core of Bergman, Correa, Springer, and Altuve. Adding a pitcher like that gives the Stros McCullers, Dallas, and them that is more than a solid front 3.

Not sure why you'd get down voted for this... I don't know too many Astros fans who would disagree. That said, I think the fear is the true Astros fans understand the dark, dark places an organization can sink to when they deplete their farm system and run on a tank full of free agents. Sure, it worked for them in the early to mid 2000s. But ultimately, the last 11 years have made us bitter and not even remember the World Series run.

Luhnow keeps preaching about sustainability. I hope he knows what he's talking about... So far he seems to be measured in his deals... He hasn't seemed desperate, yet. Selling off you 3 best prospects after the big sell off to get Gomez and Giles just smells of desperation to me.

I can't wait for ST... Plan on going down for 3 or 4 days this year.

If I'm a Stros fan I'm ok trading young talent for a fairly young pitcher under team control who is already established. Especially an Archer or Quintana who are #1's or #2's.... Those are what you "hope" to develop and they are already there.

Maybe Ludlow can get them to cave to something slightly less than that Gammons package

I'd give up the Gammons package, it may suck but you are trading 3 unknowns for a proven young commodity. Plus he puts the Pastor's in great position to actually challenge next year and the next 3 years.

If it comes down to it I think I would too honestly but it's a tough call. If we can get him and keep one of Martes or Tucker it's a big win I think

Yeah you always hate to be on the end of a trade people look back on in 20 years and laugh about but if you have an opportunity to go for it, you do it.

Do the Stros want to wait 3-4 years for these guys or do they want to go for it now? In dealing for McCann and Reddick they want to win now.

These guys aren't 3-4 years away. Musgrove is already here. Martes is a summer arrival and Tucker is probably next summer.

So do you want to wait 2-3 years to see if they are worth it or go for it now. Moves the Astros made make it seem they are in it to win now. If that is the case your not waiting on "potential" unless they're already MLB ready.

Honestly, yeah. I'm okay with taking a pitcher a tier down to not blow up the farm. This move blows up the farm.

I disagree because of the youth, no one knows if these prospects will be worth anything in 3 years. We know what Quintana is which is at the worst a solid #2.

As I've said before the Tigers at the time paid a hefty price for Night and it has worked out well. This is a crap shoot really and I would take a proven commodity over an unknown.

Royals starters Danny Duffy and Yordano Ventura are two of the pitchers on the Astros’ list of rotation targets, MLB.com’s Brian McTaggart reports. The two K.C. arms join several other previously-known names (i.e. Jose Quintana, Chris Archer, Jake Odorizzi and other Tampa Bay’s starters) as potential trade fits for a Houston team looking to upgrade its starting pitching.

Duffy I want. Ventura I dunno, tons of potential but I want someone more proven

If we trade for Ventura I want him shoved in Springer's locker for his first 12 hours as an Astro
