It's kinda open right now but not really. Basically, teams are currently in the window of having exclusive negotiating rights with their players. So while the players are free agents they arent actually free in the truest sense until this upcoming Monday

I don’t think this team needs to go after a high dollar pitcher this offseason. I really do believe there’s enough arms coming back and developing. Things change mid/late season, but I’d rather money be spent locking up Springer. They showed a few stats game 7 that showed he was basically the greatest career World Series hitter. I like that guy in our clubhouse. Talent and attitude. Please keep George long term

The year of Tucker approaches. Stop flailing around with Reddick or Jake, let’s allow the kid to take a shite ton of at bats. Talent is there, let’s see if it pans out.

I agree with everything you said. George is way more important than Correa to keep long term.

Pineda, Teheran (if Braves decline) and Moore are options I see people mentioning for the Astros as cheap back of end guys who won't cost an arm and a leg.

I expect the Astros to do absolutely nothing special this offseason, and it’s hard to argue with that

I mean, they have the worst stretch of the season w RISP, can’t win a Verlander start during the playoffs, and likely were one of three squared up balls w 2 runners on w 2 outs in Game 7 hitting the ground away from winning the whole damn thing.

They will try to get a prospect for eating half of Reddick’s salary, and they will give Tucker the chance to match his numbers, keeping expectations to a minimum.

On the pitching side, they will give all the in-house arms a chance to occupy spots in the Spring. Barring a huge blockbuster offer of a playoff arm, Correa will be given the chance to prove he is worth a mega FA deal, and Springer won’t get locked up until the end of the season, in the hopes that Correa in turn won’t get nagging injuries related to diva-itis.

Verlander, Greinke, LMJ, Urquidy, Spring Training winner of 5 spot, as many have assumed

I expect Chirinos/Maldonado back. I do not expect McHugh, Miley, or Devenski back. Osuna, Pressly, Harris, Rondon, Abreu, Whitley all figure into the pen

Any SP or pen guys won’t be realized until trade deadline, IMO. And honestly, that’s the best time to do it

Damn that sounds good enough to win the west but not the AL next year

Eh, this year showed again what a crapshoot the playoffs are.

At least the Nationals had 3 legit pitchers, it isn't like when the Royals won

An MVP candidate, and one of the best young players in the game

And also no burden from a 10 year $300 M contract

Nationals are a legitimate champion

To be clear, I wasn’t trying to minimize what the Nats did at all. I was just pointing out that a series of very small things can change outcomes so many times. It’s one of the great things about the game.

I didn’t take it that way at all. Understood.

And just so tduecen understands my response, the Yankees tied up a bunch of money in a player that contributed next to nothing. Had that money been invested in starting pitching, along w the great signing they made in Lemahieu, and the deals made that resulted in young talent coming of age, they would have had their chance versus the team that let another overpriced, ball and chain, albatross contract walk away.

Harris is a big question mark to me.

I'd love to bring him back, but he might want to test the waters. This is his best chance to cash in.

He surely wants and deserves at least a 2 year, $17.5M deal like Pressly.

If Harris can get 9 M for multiple years, he should sell his first born for it

Considering the unloaded Castro and his salary they only paid Stanton like 15 million a year. While still less production than you want from someone his salary hasn't been as bad as what many want people to believe. This year the Yankees are paying in full and if he does not opt out the Yankees get 30 million from the Marlins.
So Yankees had Stanton for 15 and 15 million if you consider the salary unloaded. Astros paid Reddick 13 and 13 overthat same time period for a comparison

I get it

But they got NOTHING from him this year, and what they got last year from him didn’t result in a championship

Had they went in a different direction, maybe they win a WS

30 M a year for 2 years for a SP is a different animal than an OF.
