Add $3.75M to cap space.
I guess they figure Urquidy won't be a viable starter. Wonder if they could've made him a reliable reliever?

Qualifying offer extended to Bregman. Explain that to me as if I were eight…better yet, explain that to me as if I were five.

He'll probably miss a good chunk of the season coming back from TJ and then he's a free agent at years end. It doesn't make sense with our payroll/tax crunch to waste 4 million dollars on him this year. I like Urqel, hate to see him sent out like this but
Sucks for Urqel because probably nobody else is going to sign him while he's recovering. He was a victim of McCullers, Abreu and Monteros wasted salaries. When you've got $48 million of payroll flushed down the toilet, his little $3.75M makes a difference

Uhhh, it’s a no-brainer. If he signs with another team, Astros receive a comp pick. I think he qualifies as a comp pick between 2nd and 3rd rounds.
I’m sure one of the other smarter guys can correct me. I’m too disinterested in looking it up.

I wonder if they could bring him back on a cheaper deal potentially. Regardless with how much time he’s gonna miss it’s not surprising

It never gets easier to read Lance, Abreu and Monteros making $48m. frick

Dana says 3B is most important position this offseason. Apparently not the glaring hole at 1B

Feels like lip service to the fans. I have a hard time seeing Crane being competitive with the market on Bregman.
Springer like Bregman was headed into his age 31 season, got 6 years 150. We didn't even really try to retain him on that one.
Correa was in his prime years going into his age 27 season. Huge vocal leader of the time. Important to the fan base. Crane maxed out on him at 5 years 160.
Is he going to exceed those limits for Bregman going into his age 31 season? If you look at Springer and Correa and how they've performed, maybe Crame was right.

There’s no maybe about it on Springer and Correa
One thing in Bregman’s favor is he has been and likely will be more durable than the other two
I think they offer 5/140 or 4/120 and hope he gets offered more elsewhere
Seeing Hader get Yed money next year is embarrassing. But Yed is a big injury risk

I could see them going to 6 years at the right number for Bregman. It feels unlikely we will have the highest value offer though. He’s had one big extension already unlike Correa and Springer, so perhaps he won’t prioritize getting the most money. It’s rare players resign when they reach this point and are actually on the open market
Our offseason is pretty straightforward I think if Bregman resigns. It won’t be all that interesting. If he doesn’t then I think it’s difficult to predict what the next moves will be

Give Bregman a low-ball offer.
Trade Chas for Brett Baity. Both players need a change of scenery.
Baity is still young enough to turn his career around.

If tweet fails to load, click here. This is very calculated in my opinion for a couple of reasons: 1) his elbow issue is probably more serious than led on to believe
2) Boras wants to maximize offers from other teams knowing Altuve is locked in at 2B for the Astros

I didn't think Reggie was allowed back in California since that one time when he tried to kill the Queen...

And yet Craig James walks freely in Texas after killing 5 hookers when he was at SMU. The inequity in this country.
