I mentioned it in the game thread last night, but this is the first thing I thought of last night when Cole didn’t cover 1st
big cat on pmt mentioned LA's scouting report was that fold with the ball in play and don't play fundamental baseball
they had some pretty costly boneheaded postseason plays in the last decade

This and a Pressly trade is about as high as I'm setting my expectations.
I'll believe it when I see it on a bigger FA or a trade of Framber/Tuck.

Framber/Tuck
nothing significant happens without one, or both, getting traded.
Maybe, just maybe, LMJ finally pulls the pin on his career and the Astros are able to file an insurance claim and recover the millions wasted on his rehab years.
If they can get a reimbursement claim, then there is opportunity to spend a little on Bellanger or Bregman.
As it stands, even with Bregman's salary off the payroll, the Astros will go into opening day at about $210 Million. This a shite-ton for a mid-at-best team.

I'm seeing more talk about the Astros and Goldschmidt than I'm comfortable with. Please God no.

The Astros sign center fielder Cody Bellinger, after he opts out of his contract with the Cubs, to a four-year, $112 million pact. Houston also re-signs third baseman Alex Bregman for seven years and $185.5 million.
We ain't got the cheddar for all this.

Bregman wins gold glove. I’m sure Boras will use that to drive his price up even more
Posted on 11/3/24 at 8:39 pm to DalenSA
The eye test says he’s had better years. He’s a really damn good third sacker and he deserves a Gold Glove though. But, just like with Tucker, the price tag goes up with awards like this.

His biggest competition left for the NL. With Matt Chapman gone to SF, he really is the best one.
