Yes, yes it is.
If we ever have beers in person, I’ll give you the name of the employee.
You can then decide how believable the source should be considered.

Sounds like very Astrotard message board BS. But I still love and appreciate Luhnow.

I did turn it on in the 10th last night. Aaron Boone and Nestor are to the Dodgers and Freddie as Scott Servais and Robbie Ray are to the Astros and Yordan.

Is that series over yet? Wake me when it is.

Rumor has it he's bringing an old mascot buddy with him. Apparently, it's an old friend of yours.

my mascot molestation story has legs

If General Admission asked me to "shoot his cannon" for him, I'd be traumatized, too.

I mentioned it in the game thread last night, but this is the first thing I thought of last night when Cole didn’t cover 1st

Talking baseball again... from the list of MLBTradeRumors potential trade candidates:
NOT on their list, but definitely on my list of potential trade candidates:
Victor Caratini, C: $6MM through 2025
Framber Valdez (5.163): $17.8MM
Kyle Tucker (5.079): $15.8MM
That's an easy $50million salary dump, and they could start the reload for another run.
quote:
14. Ryan Pressly, RHP, Astros | Guaranteed $14MM through 2025
The offseason hasn’t even begun in earnest, and Houston general manager Dana Brown has already suggested he “may need to get creative” with the payroll to make necessary additions. That doesn’t bode well for ’Stros fans hoping to see lavish spending. Thanks in part to owner Jim Crane’s ill-fated signings of Jose Abreu and Rafael Montero (both made while operating without a GM) and also to a large arbitration class, the Astros project for a $218MM payroll next season before making a single move (hat tip to the indispensable RosterResource).
Of Houston’s veterans on guaranteed contracts, Pressly could be the most movable. He’s coming off a nice season with a 3.49 ERA, 23.8% strikeout rate and 7.4% walk rate. It’s not his best work, but the soon-to-be 36-year-old has been a high quality leverage reliever since 2018. There’d be demand from other teams, but Pressly would need to be willing to leave Houston. As a player with 10-and-5 rights (10 years of service, the last five for his current team), the veteran reliever has full no-trade protection. If he’s amenable to a trade, moving him could allow Houston to free up resources to pursue needs at the infield corners.
quote:
25. Chas McCormick, OF, Astros | Arb-eligible through 2026 ($3.3MM projected salary in 2025)
A quality role player who tormented lefties and held his own against righties in Houston from 2021-23, McCormick’s production cratered in a career-worst season that now renders him a change-of-scenery candidate. His $3.3MM projected salary is plenty affordable, but the 29-year-old is coming off a disastrous .211/.271/.306 showing in an injury-marred season. The Astros have Yordan Alvarez, Jake Meyers and Kyle Tucker, plus utilityman Mauricio Dubon as an option. Top prospect Jacob Melton isn’t far from being big league ready and should debut in 2025. Moving McCormick wouldn’t create the same level of financial breathing room that a trade of Pressly would, but the Astros could feel the money is better spent elsewhere than on a fourth outfielder seeking a rebound season.

Jim Bowden predicts:
quote:
The Astros sign center fielder Cody Bellinger, after he opts out of his contract with the Cubs, to a four-year, $112 million pact. Houston also re-signs third baseman Alex Bregman for seven years and $185.5 million.
The Mariners sign first baseman Christian Walker (three years, $72 million), improving offensively and defensively at the position.
Posted on 11/1/24 at 10:13 am to Jwho77
If they resign Bregman you can pretty much rule out any other big additions I would think. But Bowden is an idiot obviously
Posted on 11/1/24 at 10:36 am to ShaneTheLegLechler
Seems to me that re-signing Bregman would lead to a big trade (Tucker or Valdez).
Posted on 11/1/24 at 10:37 am to Jwho77
I would hope so but I’ll believe it when I see it. I think they resign Bregman and largely run it back. Maybe a small deal with Chas for another bounce back player at 1B or something
Posted on 11/1/24 at 10:59 am to Jwho77
I’m thinking 5 is as long as they go with Bregman
Hope so anyway
